“Four Star??!!”

Definitely not worthy of a 4star rating. The only things going for this hotel are the location and the breakfast. The rooms were dark and dismal, although clean. When we returned after visiting Machu Picchu we thought we had been allocated a store room ,in error, it was so gloomy. We were allowed to leave our luggage in store, free of charge, while visiting Machu Picchu and did not really find security an issue. Breakfast was also good and although the restaurant is quite small as breakfast is served from 4.00am -10.30am, it was not overcrowded. However, we did find the attitude of the Receptionists less than customer orientated. Having enjoyed excellent customer service, in Lima, we felt that these girls were not interested in the hotel guests and were verging on condescending. One afternoon we returned to the hotel to find that the only lift was out of order. The Receptionists did not know when it would be fixed, were unapologetic and not the least interested that my husband, despite being a very fit 80 years old, would have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to our room. The hotel was the only thing we didn't enjoy about Cusco

We were booked into this Hotel as part of a group. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was complete and tasty each morning. The location is very good. Banks with ATM's across the street. Shopping a couple of blooks away in either direction. Should we return to Cuzco we will stay here.

“Everything was good..... except one thing”

As far as room and service this hotel is recommended. In addition location is quite good. Breakfast was totally acceptable.

However, both mornings I was awoken very early by noise in the hallways. Part of this seems to be that many people are getting up early for trips to Macchu Picchu and they are noisy getting out..... but much worse was that one morning the maids were already cleaning rooms near mine at 6:30 am and the noise was egregious, they were not even remotely lowering their speaking volume and there was so much banging that I kept looking around my room to try to come up with ways that they could possibly be making that much noise..... were they playing catch with the furniture? Lastly check-out is at 8:30 am which further tells me it is designed for those leaving early.

“Great Location on the main street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

Spent 3 nights in Cusco and could not have had a more pleasant stay particulary after the 10 hr bus drive from Nazca. The hotel is ideally placed to visit the main squares and historical places in Cusco. Our room overlooked the internal courtyard which we thought might get noisy during the evenings but no problems at all. The rerstaurant is good but Cusco has a wide variety of restaurants to suit all tastes and so eating out is the normal option.

“security definitely an issue they need to address!”

Booked standard single and srandard double room here, using the hotel as a base for getting to Machu Pichu. A weird trip from the airport with a dodgy taxi driver had us with our guard up when we arrived at the hotel. Theplan was to dump our luggage, pack an overnight bag, and catch the bus to Ollantaytambo with a connexion to the Vistadome train yo Aguas Calientes, so we could get an early entry to Machu Picju the following morning, then return to Cusco yo stay for one night before flying home to Norway. We handed our keys to reception (the old-fashioned metal kind of key) and were a bit surprised that they just laid them on the counter. We told the receptionist about our concerns for safrty due to an unpleasant experience with the taxi driver from the airpirt and asked them to be extra vigilant since we were going to spend the night in Aguas Calientes and leave all of our luggage in the hotel room. Next evening, we returned to Cusco and were astonished to see that our keys, and many others, were laid out, number tags clearly displayed, on the counter!! We commented that anyone could gave just picked up our keys and wandered to our rooms, robbed us, and left the hotel without anyone registering who they were, or checking that it was they who were checked into the room whose keys they picked up. They just shrugged their shoulders and really couldn't have cared less. We were shockedto say the least and RAN up to our rooms to see if our luggage and valuables were still there. Luckiky, they were, but it could very well have been another story, given the very lax security in the hotel. We ate dinner in the resraurant that evening, took the set 3-course option, drinks nit included. The food was bland and not very good and the service left much to be desired. We went back to reception to collect our keys and were shocked to see that they were still laid oyt on the counter for all to see - and to take! At the same tine, we noticed a sign saying that checkout time was 8.30am!! Breakfast was served between 7.30-10am, but checkout was 8.30!! We asked why this was the case as most hotels have checkout at noon, but they just shrugged their shoulders again and made no attempt to explain. On checking out next morning, we explained that our flight didn'leave till 8pm that evening and asked if we could arrange a late checkout. Absolutely not!! was the answer, but we could leave our luggage there all day for a 10 soles fee if we liked. We did NOT like!! We quite simply didn't feel that our luggage would be safe there. So we wandered round Cusco all day, dragging our luggage around with ys. It was a very sad way to end our 3-week tour of Mexico and Peru. Not only would I NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone, I would even go so far as to advise people to AVOID THIS HOTEL because of the serious lack of security.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the hotel if noise bothers you
