“Very nice 4 night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

We got there Dec 31st, 2010 straight from Vancouver with a plane change in Lima. The idea was to stay in Cuzco for a few days to acclimatize to the altitude. We were 2 couples and rented 2 separate rooms. Very clean rooms reasonably priced. We had good service even though we had to explain things with hands and dictionary, there was one girls who spoke some English and we certainly appreciated it.
Breakfast was bread, jam, strong coffee. But with the altitude messing with us it was enough. We drank a lot of coca tea, and I mean a lot, even tried to chew it, gagged on it. Eventually had to resort to medication to feel better.
Close enough walking distance to city center (Plaza Des Armas) yet far enough to be out of the hubbub.
New years eve was quite an experience with fireworks and bangs going off all night and even the next day.

This hotel is clean and very cozy. We stayed 2 nights and got much needed rest after hiking the Incan Trail.

“Cheap, safe, nice staff - thin walls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2009

if you go to MP on a budget, this is a GREAT place to stay. we paid about 55 per night, but i'm sure you can probably haggle for less... they speak great english, and are very helpfull to guests, the only problem is the thin walls and creaky floor, if you are a light sleeper, you may wish to stay somewhere else... but other than that, worked wonderfully for us as a clean place to stay for cheap, and in a good area, short walk from the plaza.

feel free to contact me with any questions about machu picchu, aguas calientes, or cusco. i recieved a lot of help from websites like this one, and i'm more than willing to pass it on-

“Great value and quiet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

We really enjoyed our stay especially since we were 5 people traveling and we got the "apartment" room, it was a bit of the way up since it was the room on the top but after getting there it was nice. My only BUT is that the bathroom smelled which I beleive it is the plumming luckly we took a candle which when we were in the room we turned it on. Other than that is was great the service is excellent.

“Trustworthy & helpful staff as well as terrific location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2008

Just in case you're searching online--it's Andenes de Saphi (with an "i" not "y")
Anyhow, this hotel was a fantastic experience! It was located just far enough from the plaza to keep things a bit more relaxed, but close enough for a couple-minute walk into the heart of Cusco. We received a room we requested by photo from the internet, and were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and hot water (not to mention water pressure*) available at all hours of the day. I am a very light sleeper, so my only complaint would be that the thin walls made way for me waking up a few times during the night, but my boyfriend (who sleeps fairly normally; not too heavy, not too light) slept perfectly every night. Otherwise, I can't rave about the service enough. Breakfast was delicious and quaint--fresh orange juice, bread, and either ham and cheese or eggs made fresh for you and to your liking. The rooms were always clean and the hotel kept my extra money safe for me in their safety deposit box. Hugo, in particular, also helped us over and over in planning our trip to Machu Picchu on a budget. I couldn't believe how far he went in making sure we were taken care of, and when we returned the whole staff asked with smiles how our trip had went and seemed excited to hear about it. Overall, I was very impressed with the beauty, location, cleanliness, and hospitality this hotel had to offer--definitely recommended*

  • Liked — Service! Absolutely!
  • Disliked — The walls were a bit thin for a light sleeper like me!
