We stayed here twice as a family - for two nights before the Inca Trail, and for two nights after - as part of a Journey Latin America package. I stayed for two extra nights in between without my family whilst they were trekking. The hotel is right slap bang in the middle of the old city, at the top of Avenida del Sol and just off Plaza de Armas. A great location for wandering around the centre of Cuzco and getting a sense of the city and its history. The hotel is small and intimate, it felt like the staff knew us straight away.
Our family room was spacious and comfortable, with firm beds and a strong, hot shower over the bath. There were English-language channels on the TV, and the wifi was pretty good. Our window overlooked the street leading to the square, which meant there was some noise, but the view compensated for it! My single room was much smaller and tucked away overlooking a tiny internal courtyard, which was actually noisier than the street, but it was fine - same fittings in the bathroom and same comfortable double bed.
The breakfast room (also a restaurant in the evening, but we never used it) was bright and airy, with the usual selection of fruit, cereals, breads, juice, coffee, yogurt, hot dishes either omelettes or pancakes, and chicken or beef stew. Not always very warm or well-stocked but tasty.
The staff were very friendly and impeccably turned out. We needed to print some forms and had trouble using the business centre computer - the receptionist on duty very cheerfully spent ages helping me.
We were really pleased with both our stays at this hotel - upon our return we were greeted like old friends by the receptionists and porters, even the security guy on the front door. A very comfortable and characterful place to stay in the heart of the old city.
