In February we have traveled with our two kids (6 and 7) to Peru. We stayed for 10 days in hostal casona solar. The hotel is very centrally located and after the main gates, you will find an oase of tranquility in the busy city center of Arequipa.

The hostal is managed by Gertso (a very experienced Peru 'connaiseur) and his wive Edith. They are very helpful in making your stay the best experience in Arequipa.

We stayed here for six days while touring peru on a fairly modest budget. After a tiring nigght-time coach trip, we were able to book in early and made to feel very welcome. Our room was superb in a vast, brick-lined vaulted part of the building, and the hotel was quiet, depsite being in heart of Arequipa. The owners, Gertso and Edith, couldn't have been more helpful with good advice and contacts for our varipus activities. If we visit Arequipa again, we'll certainly stay there again.

We stayed at the hostel for three nights in November, 2008. The street facade is not special, but when one enters the tall doors and courtyard, it is as if you are in a special world. The white sillar construction material is unique, as is the garden in the back, room with antique-type furniture, and history of the place. The owners a Dutch and Peruvian couple, speak English and Spanish and the breakfasts are good. They were helpful when asked for assistance. On the morning we left early for our flight to Cusco, they arranged for an earlier breakfast for us. All in all, it was a nice place to stay,

We have received a very warm welcome at Casona Solar. The place is an historical house of Arequipa wonderfully renovated and decorated. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The owner, Edith, is always ready to help and provide info. Don't hesitate if you want to stay there.
