It's a honest place. Service and instalation do not match the leves I received in Cuzco, but it is ok. Since Libertadot in Cuzco was such a pleasant surprise, I had high expectations for Libertador Arequipa, what didn't happenned.

Stayed for 2 nights. Check in was quick and effecient with a voucher for a complimentary pisco sour being a nice welcoming touch.
We were provided with a room on the ground floor. The room was one of the most spacious we had during our trip around Peru with a very large comfortable bed and a fairly modern bathroom with a bath and overhead shower.
The hotel itself is situated a short 15 minute walk from the town centre down Jerusalem Street. I've noted a few comments about needing to take a taxi for safety reasons but we walked it on a number of occasions both during the day and late at night and felt extremely safe.
Breakfast is typical of all the hotels we visited in Peru and is buffet style. There are plenty of both hot and cold offerings available which is all extremely well presented and cooked. An added bonus is that breakfast can be taken either inside or out.
Can't comment on evening dining as we ate out both nights we were there.

I stayed for 2 nights while on business. This was my first trip to Arequipa, so I kept an open mind about my experience. I must say the service at the Libertador was top notch. They always accomodated us when we had a need. My room was huge, and had its touch of colonial style but with modern amenities. They provided "turn down service", which is always a treat. Their beds were amazing!! I had the best sleep while staying here. Breakfast was included and the selection provided a good selection of breakfast items. The only negative point was the food served for lunch/dinner. The first night, my colleague and I had ordered grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and we found both to be extremely salty. The second day we had a late lunch/early dinner, I had the traditional lomo saltado, and to be honest for a five star hotel, I was truly disappointed. I have had lomo saltado in Lima at a chain restaurant called Hiraki and that was 100 times better, it was also 100 times bigger and definitely less expensive than what was offered to me at the Hotel Libertador. To be classified to be a five star hotel, you must be able to offer the best quality local traditional dishes. I would probably recommend this hotel to friends/family, but unless they improve their food, I would probably suggest going elsewhere to eat lunch/dinner.

I stayed at the property for 3 nights while on business. Those reviewers who rate a hotel in southern Peru by the same standards as a top European/US hotel don't live in the real world. For local standards I found the place more than decent. The room my room spacious, it featured a very comfortable bed and all the usual stuff you expect at a decent hotel.

The hotel breakfast was fine, nothing exceptional but fine. Wi-fi was free and worked pretty well. I didn't use the pool, but saw the garden area surrounding it was pleasant for afternoon tea or a drink.

I found the staff courteous and helpful. Maybe they could've upped their game as regards their English skills, but ultimately the hotel is in a Spanish speaking country.

Some people also point out potential dangers of walking by foot to the town centre (15 min) during night - I did that on several occasions, and never felt threatened or uncomfortable at any point. In any case, taxis are in abundance and are dirty cheap (2 dollars).

I would stay here again, definitely.
