While the staff is super friendly and breakfast was good, we felt our room was nothing special and did not make up for being so far from the center. It's a good 15-20 min uphill walk through a residencial neighborhood with nothing interesting to see (though not unpleasant either). During the day this is not too much of an issue but at nigh it means the only safe option is to take a taxi (and we were told by hotel staff to only use a safe taxi company by calling one rather than hailing one off the street). For that reason I would not stay there again (especially not if you're traveling alone or just girls).

I spent 3 nights in Casa de Tintin in January. The hotel is located in Vallecito, a nice and quiet neighborhood at a reasonable walking distance from Plaza de Armas. The room was just lovely and had a balcony with a great view. The owner, Anita, was extremely kind and helpful, as was the rest of the staff. The hotel is small and offer a family-like and friendly service. Rates seem to me slightly lower than average for this category of hotels in Peru.

Staying in La Casa de Tintin was one of the highlights of our stay in Arequipa. It is a lovely place-very homely and the staff are extremely helpful. The location is a short walk into the city centre, however it is a pleasant walk through a nice neighborhood, or taxis are readily available. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was great. We would definitely stay again- a real gem.

We have the top floor suite. The room is very cute. and has a cute balcony with a view of the Misty (if you are tall enough). The ground floor room my friends stayed in is a bit more noisy in the morning with people leaving for their trips. Apparently the hot water is not as stable on the ground floor as well.
The breakfast is very good. and the courtyard is very nice. The staff is very helpful as well. The travel agency we had booked seemed to have totally forgot about us, the staff was really helpful in giving us the right information and right number to call.
It is a bit far from the city centre, but i really like the location at the Puente de fiero. Nice view and good neighbourhood. The staff also gave very good suggestion for restaurant.
Overall, very good value and very nice place to stay at.
