Lovely welcoming place, spotlessly clean, the best pancake I have eaten in South America (and it was free). A great common space in which to meet other travellers. The location is very central. I only stayed one night but would definatly go back if I was in Arequipa again. The view from the roof terrace is to die for.

Probably the friendliest and most helpful staff of any hostel we stayed at in Peru... I would highly recommend this hostel, but wouldn't necceasarily recommend booking any tours from them as they are more expensive then on the street.

Having stayed at the old Bothy two years ago, I was pleasantly surprised at the new Bothy location when I arrived a week ago. It´s just a little bit further down Puente Grau and is more spacious with nice rooms and a really pretty balcony area to sit at and have your breakfast or read a book with FAB views of the El Misti and Chachani volcanoes! Staff as always were very friendly and helpful and the place was spotless!

The reason why I say you need to be careful with the taxi drivers is that when I arrived at the bus station, the taxi driver didn´t have a clue that the hostel even existed! Had I not been to Arequipa before, I probably would have freaked out and thought I´d been duped! My suggestion when you take a taxi, either get the hostel to book it for you, or just give the address to the taxi driver - Puente Grau is one of the main streets in the city centre.

The staff at Bothy Arequpa were very helpful to us during our stay. Due to demonstrations on the road between Puno and Cuzco our bus was cancelled twice. Even after we were told all buses were canceled Staff did a great job ringing around to get us on a bus to Cuzco. We wish all hostels we stay in could have such great staff as we found at bothy.
