I would likely rate this a little higher but the 5-star rating advertised by the hotel itself does not truly represent what I encountered. It is a handsome facility from the outside and the front desk personnel were helpful and welcoming. Otherwise, the bathroom was well below the star rating as there were old slightly rusting fixtures, broken and cracked tiles and worst of all an improperly attached shower head that sprayed water to the ceiling which ricocheted back not into the tub but to the bathroom floor flooding it. The mattress pad was the wrong size and typical of many places in Latin America the sheets did not fit well. The bed itself was comfortable. Bar service was slow and it engages in what seems to be a common "scam" with the "free welcome drink" routine wherein if you don't order from a very small (and unnamed unless you ask) selection of cocktails your drink is not free and is overpriced and the "free cocktail" does not even include the cheapest alcohol choice--beer! Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were of decent quality (the seafood soup was quite good) and I did not find anything that appeared to be "recycled." Again, this is not a bad place, it just does not live up to a 5-star rating.
