“Everything you need”

We enjoyed our stay here. Decent breakfast and great location. Little loud on a Friday night for a while (noise not from the hostel but a neighborhood bar) but got quiet by 11:00. Staff was great, did our laundry, got a taxi ordered for us successfully, at really early times in the am to the airport, my friend left at 4:00 and mine was at 5:15. Able to walk to lots of restaurants. Also had an internet computer available. We had intended to stay at Posada del Maple but they were full and sent us here. You can use the kitchen and also they have filtered water. And there was always hot water, didn't have to ask for it as we had to at some places. The double room was $16 a piece including taxes.

“Did not Honor Reservation”

I reserved a room at Hostal Alcala more than a month in advance, and confirmed a week beforehand, but when I arrived at the hotel around midnight (I told them I was going to arrive late) after a long bus ride, there was no room for me. I had to go to several other nearby hotels, all of which were full, before settling for a shared room.

Very near to the new town center. Friendly staff but they don't speak english. They have kitchen for tourists' use. Price $25/night (couple). A lot of various channels on TV.

“Friendly, inexpensive, great location”

My husband and I stayed in Quito Ecuador for the first time this month. We chose this hotel for its price and location. We found it to be in a good location, within walking distance of many restaurants and bars! It's a big plus to be able to walk to a place to eat instead of getting a taxi just to be able to go out to eat. However, it was also easy to catch a taxi by walking 1/2 block up the street. The owners were very friendly and allowed us to stow our extra bags with them when we went on two separate trips within Ecuador. This was SO very helpful as we did not want to drag our extra luggage with us during that time. It was also great to have a place where breakfast was included, as this was very handy.

The rooms were cheerful and clean.

I would stay here again.

Room Tip: We liked staying in room 4 because it was facing the main street and was on the second floor which s...

“Good, budget hostal in Quito”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

Good, budget hotel in Quito. Spent $20 for a single that was a large room with a double and twin beds and a private bathroom. In the Mariscal area so the music in the neighborhood was quite loud on Saturday night but I slept with earplugs and was fine. Breakfast was decent, eggs, fruit, and toast. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. If you are looking for no frills, this is it. Also has fantastic wifi.
