“Just an overnight stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is our overnight stay before departing to the Galapagos. Maybe we only stayed for one night, or maybe the room rate was a AAA special, we were put into this really small room and even on a higher floor, we could hear the traffic outside. The aged bathroom showed some cracks and mildew.
The service in this hotel, however, trump it all. From the door men to the bell boy to the men and women worked in the front desk, their smile and courteous attitude left an impression that is good enough to give a 4 star to this hotel.

“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The room was updated and modern. Good wi-fi. We were able to walk to some excellent restaurants - I highly recommend Segundo Muelle which is only about three blocks away. The breakfast in the hotel was included and had some great choices.

“Great hotel, fantastic buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I used my Carlson Club points for this stay. There was a welcome note and a plate of pastries waiting for us in our suite.

Comfortable bed, two bathrooms, sitting area. All very clean and comfortable.
The buffet was loaded with fresh fruit, cheeses, breads, meats, cereals, juices plus an omelet and pancake station.

“Good value. Some glitches.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed at the Radisson 3 times during our recent travels in Ecuador. When comparing rates, I found this to be an excellent value. The rooms are very nice and most employees very accommodating. Our family of 3 stayed in a couple of different room types and the suite worked out the best for us.

We arrived very late in the evening (about midnight). Our reservation was in order but when we got to the room, we found it had only 2 single beds (our reservation was for a family of 3). We made do for the night, but I contacted the front desk first thing the next morning and was told that there were no other rooms available. When I asked about a rollaway, she called housekeeping, which recommended replacing one of the singles with a queen. Then they decided to just switch us to another room that already had a queen and a single. So apparently they did have other rooms available!

We also had issues with trying to order room service (no answer), got directed to a store that wasn't open, given mis-information about a New Year's celebration, and on our final morning, when we had an early flight to catch, there was a glitch with our transportation (there is no shuttle on Sundays very early, so we had requested a cab but the order was fouled up--very stressful).

One of the things we were most pleased about was the transportation from the airport. We e-mailed the front desk to arrange a (private) cab, and there he was, waiting for us right as we came out of customs. We also arranged a day trip to Otavalo through the hotel and we really enjoyed it. Had a guide named Juan Carlos who spoke excellent English.

The restaurant is decent, and not too expensive and there are other good choices in the area. Check out the deli at the SwissHotel across the street.

Room Tip: Request an upper floor. Quito is very noisy with horns and sirens and it's slightly quieter the...

“Great hotel in New Quito”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My family and I had a 3 night stay at the Radisson Quito in January. Overall, it is a very good business style hotel, although I didnt see too many "business types" on my visit. The rooms are very large- we had a two bedroom suite, with 2 bathrooms, and a huge jacuzzi style tub. It accommodated my family perfectly! NIce privacy and plenty of space to unpack. There are handsome large crown moldings on the ceilings. We enjoyed the candy on our pillows at night, plenty of complementary bottled water and welcome snacks. It is in a very nice location with some good restaurants nearby. The bellhops were very helpful and accommodating with our luggage. We also had an issue that we were locked out of our safe. No problem! Someone was up taking care of the situation in minutes, BRAVO! The room was clean, and nice flat screen tvs were in our room. The lobby was decorated for Christmas when we got there, and afterward, a giant gorgeous display of red roses. The front desk was very helpful in securing dinner reservations and transportation. Our stay included the buffet breakfast, which was very good. Plenty of fresh fruits, rolls, smoked salmon, cheeses, cereals, and lovely fresh juices. There was someone to make omelets and eggs. Nice!

The only negative thing I would offer about this hotel was that the rooms looked a little tired. I am not sure how old the hotel is but the room could be spruced up a bit. The furniture had chips in it and the carpet could be replaced. Overall, though, I think that this is a very good place to stay in the new part of Quito and I would recommend it.
