“Lovely, clean rooms. Great location. Bit of a labyrinth.”

Great hotel. Even the room service is good. Clean, safe rooms, good location, great breakfast. Small spa (looked as though it was barely used). The only small down-side is that it is a bit of a labyrinth as it's built around two main towers. We went looking for the spa and it took us about 30minutes to find it. (It was in the other tower from our room, in the basement - the signs were no use). Same with trying to find the pool's entrance and a meeting room we were due to conference in. The pool and jacuzzi are worth it when you get there though. We stayed there for a total of six nights over a two week period. There is a small gym (next to the spa). Sometimes you have to pay for internet access, sometimes you don't (in our experience it depended first of all on your package and second of all on the friendliness of the person at the front desk). Overall great hotel and worth the money.

Room Tip: The higher you got the quieter your room is (though the double-glazing does a good job on any level...

“Safe and Comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

As most of the reviews have stated, the Hilton Colon Quito is a very safe hotel, in a good location, with clean rooms, and the staff is generally very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re searching for a hotel.

We arrived late at night from the United States. After waiting an hour and a half to get through immigration at Quito Airport, we were very cranky and wanted to check into our room at the hotel. The hotel is a quick taxi ride from the airport, which cost about $12 for three people (I think that was on the higher side).

When we got to the hotel past midnight, we were greeted at the front door, and our luggage was quickly taken to our room. Check in was very seamless, and we were in our room within five minutes.

The room itself is very basic, but it was a good size. Views facing the south (or the park) have wonderful views of the city sprawling into the mountainside. Unfortunately our room faced north, and we had a normal city view. Aside from the view, the room had very comfortable beds and was very spacious. The shower was a little strange because of the location of the shower head. I was practically up against the wall while taking a shower because the shower head nozzle wouldn’t aim correctly.

We were on the Executive Floor, so we had access to the breakfast buffet each morning. During the week, the buffet is so-so because it’s in a little area next to the rooms. But on Fridays, and I’m also assuming Saturday and Sunday, the breakfast buffet is in the restaurant downstairs. There is a great selection of warm food, fruits, meats and cheeses, an omelet station, breads, juices, etc. It has everything your stomach desires.

Also, since we were on the Executive Floor, there was a nightly happy hour in a small area by the meeting rooms in the lobby. Service was great! Our glasses were always filled and the bartender did a great job making sure everyone was happy.

We did order room service one night. While the prices are very reasonable and the service is quick, the food was only mediocre. One meal was accidentally left off the order, but the hotel staff quickly resolved the issue.

Taxis are easy to find since it’s off a very busy street, but it’s also easy enough to walk around the area during the daytime.

There are complimentary airport shuttles in the morning, which is a nice touch.

Overall, this was a very nice hotel. We didn’t have very many complaints, but we had a great time staying here!

“ROOMS GOOD and COMFORTABLE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Location of hotel is excellent and is next to the El Ejido Park, where there is a nice market on Sundays and is close to the National Museum. Stayed here for four nights. Rooms very comfortable. Large bathrooms with good showers. Staff in reception were excellent and very helpful.

As we were on a package deal we ate here on three nights. The food was excellent but the staff in the restaurant didn't appear interested. At breakfast we struggled to get their attention to get our tea and coffee.

All in all a good stay. Remember Quito is at a high altitude so you may experience some discomfort whist staying there i.e. headaches etc., so drink plenty of water.

“Supurb service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

I wanted to commend this hotel for its superb customer service! They gave me an upgraded room to the executive level. Complimentary snacks and drinks on the level were always stocked and fresh. Breakfast was good, but didn't have any variety day to day. Room service was exceptiona, quick, reasonable prices, and politel! Manager even called after the delivery to check if everything was to my satisfaction. If you're trying to practice spanish, this is a great hotel. Staff will speak to you in whatever language you speak to them....spanish gets spanish...english gets english. I've been places before that they will always speak back in english and I find that a little rude. Hotel is right next to the park and is very safe! A+ and would definitely return!

Room Tip: I faced the park which was nice, but the street noise is kinda loud if you leave your window open fo...

“Great stay at the Hilton Colon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

This hotel has a wonderful staff and restaurants with delicious food -- even the room service food was great every time we ordered it (at least four times!!) The location is perfect and the rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. You can't go wrong here.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the south side with a view of the park.
