“Welcome Luxury”

After a long, roundabout journey designed to save on airfare for 4 people, we were swiftly whisked away to this luxurious hotel just moments from the airport. Never mind that it was after midnight and that we were barely coherent in our own language; everyone from the driver who was waiting for our arrival, to the desk clerk who checked us in and the porter who showed us to our spacious room, put us at ease and made us instantly happy with our decision. No, it's not the cultural immersion experience that many travelers appreciate in hostels and home stays, but for a family with diverse tastes and needs and only one week to take it all in, it was perfect. With Quito's intoxicating altitude, overcrowded city buses, scarcity of public bathrooms (and those few without toilet paper or soap), and unfamiliar foods and language, we were very content to come home each night to this very "American" style hotel. The pool, common areas, and workout room were all great. When my husband experienced a bout of extreme intestinal warfare late one night, the hotel staff were amazing. They had an English-speaking doctor sent to our room, sent an employee to the pharmacy, and even had the on-call custodians clean and disinfect the bathroom at 2:00 am!

“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Staff very helpful. Rooms really spacious, bed very large and comfy. Gorgeous bathroom suite. Restaurants good, especially the steak restaurant. The icing on the cake was the huge nicely dressed Christmas tree in the centre of the entrance hall.

The hotel had the most beautiful floral displays, mainly roses, and all the ladies were given a rose on arrival.

“Top notch American style comfort in Quito”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We spent 4 nights in the Quito Marriott in January prior to a Galapagos cruise. The hotel is immaculately clean and very luxurious. The lobby and public areas were wonderful, and filled with gorgeous arrangements of roses, which are grown in abundance outside Quito.
Our room was huge and very comfortable, just like a 5 star American hotel room. The service was excellent, and the staff at the reception desk already knew us by name the morning after we checked in. The only thing that might discourage one from staying there is that it is a very American hotel, and does not really reflect much Ecuadoran culture. It also is a bit far from the old town of Quito, so you have to take a taxi to see most of the sights. They will arrange tours for you through the concierge at the hotel, but we found that their price was much higher than we paid hiring a driver on our own to take us out of Quito to go touring.
The hotel restaurants had very good food--surprisingly good for hotel restaurants, in our opinion.
In terms of value, we were booked into the hotel as part of a package put together for us by Galapagosislands.com, so I don't really know what it would cost booked alone, but we felt that we got a very good deal for the package, even though we added extra nights in Quito.

“Very Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

All of the comforts of home with excellent service. Our room was very nice and comfortable, and after 8 days out of touch it was nice to be pampered a bit. Great service by the hotel and transport. Very comfortable "low risk" option if you are looking for a north american style hotel.

“"Can't wait to return!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

From the minute we arrived, we lacked nothing. Service was amazing, food was great and accomodations were exceptional. We weren't sure what transportation we should use. The doorman provided us with a private driver who was nothing short of incredible. His knowledge of Quito and the surrounding areas was excellant. His name is Marcelo Martinez and he will give you the kind of service and tour that is second to none. Ask for him when you stay here and you will not be sorry. I know that when my wife and I return to Quito, we will stay here and Marcelo will be our driver! The money spent is worth it. Quito is an amazing city and the JW Marriottt is where you'll want to stay.
