“Location, Location, Location and Security”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We found the location and security of the Holiday Inn Express to be outstanding. Although we enjoy staying at local hotels that offer more local character, the fact that airline crew and business people stay there gave us peace of mind in regard to security.

We rated the breakfast to be wonderful by our standards; fresh coffee, fresh breads, cereals, eggs, meats, fresh squeezed oranges, and lovely fruit and yogurt.

Rooms were very clean and modern with great cable tv and fast internet.

Front desk staff were most helpful with the questions we did have and tours we wanted to book. In regard to tours, we took the standard Greyline tour of the city that was enjoyable. We also booked a private tour with a young lady that was mentioned in a previous Trip Advisor review: Valeria Davila was wonderful and the cost was around the same for a standard group tour. Valeria's contact is: (cell) 095037177 and e-mail: va-lery@hotmail.com.

Tip: We e-mailed the hotel with our arrival information and when we left the customs hall there was a lady in a booth that held a sign with our name on it. She secured a taxi for us that was paid for by the hotel. This was great as the arrival hall was chaotic.

Tip: The Esteban Steak House just across the side street was fantastic.

“Another HolidayInn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at the Holiday Inn because most other hotels in Quito were fully booked. This is a business hotel, service is all business and one can not expect any personal touch to it. During our stay, we did not see much tourists, mostly business people.
The room is somewhat clean, but did see some hair on the bed. For the price we paid, I did not think it matched up to the value. Breakfast is the same every day, after the 2nd day, we were ready to venture into the neighborhood to try something new. BTW, there is a bakery down the street from the hotel, selling really good sandwich, and the service at the Bakery is superb, all the locals go there. (once step out of the hotel, turn right, go down the street, walk about 3 or 4 blocks, the Bakery is on your left hand corner). The neighborhood around the hotel is fairly safe, but people in Quito don't normally walk out at night time, so take a cab if you want to go somewhere, even its just a few blocks away.

“Decent hotel”

Although the hotel was OK- my room es close to a hotel personnel only room, which did not sleep at night. The person in that room vaccummed around midnight and I could hear everything he would say too.

“A very comfortable, pleasant stay”

This hotel was much better than I had expected. Inside, the hotel is clean and very nicely presented and the Front Desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, modern, well sized and very comfortable. The hotel has a gym and free internet in the rooms and in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was good with both hot and cold options and fresh juice available. There are a number of restaurant and take-away options nearby and the hotel isn't too far from the airport or the Old Town. This hotel is definitely a nice option.
