The "garden of the sun" hotel offers inexpensive and basic accommodations and is located close to many of New Town's bars and restaurants.
The staff was helpful for the most part. Units are small but clean and simply furnished with wood beds and tiny bathrooms with tiled floors. The bathrooms need some work as they are dark and missing items like the toilet paper roll holder etc.
However, Do NOT choose a room at the front of the hotel if you want to sleep! There is a 24 hour coffee shop whose lights and sounds came through the curtains like it was 2 feet away!
Our experience reminded us of the Seinfeld episode Episode 142 - The Chicken Roaster where the lights come through the window like its the rapture.
So you have been warned. It's a good value IF you get the right room. I hope the owners read this and correct the curtains and missing window panes in the front rooms.

“ask for a room at the back”
Nice hostel in the heart of the Mariscal district - lots of internet cafes and bars etc in the immediate area. Very helpful staff and clean rooms. The really bad music from the 24 hr cafe across the street is annoying, but if you ask for a room at the back it should be okay.

“Average place”
Nice hostal for the price. My room overlooked the street and had a medium size balcony. The cafe across the street was a plus except late at night. It was open all night and it was too loud. Comfortable bed and adequate bathroom. Staff was extremely helpful.

“nice people”
This was our first time at a hostal and it was pretty good. The location
was good, the 24 hr coffee shop/bar/restaurant/free internet cafe across
the street was great (though the music was loud late at night). The
showers could have been a bit more modern, but overall it was inexpensive
(compared to a hotel) and did the trick.
