Good value hostal with decent-sized rooms, comfortable beds, hot and reliable showers. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Simple adequate breakfast rather than plentiful. Numerous cafes, restaurants and bars in near vicinity. Although the area can be lively on Friday / Saturday nights, noise was not an issue. Good location for access to the Old Town and walking distance from parks.

The hostal is impecably clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. Based on reviews here I asked for back room. May not have been necessary. The block is relatively quiet. There is a cofee shop across but no blaring music. A block away IS very loud.

The "garden of the sun" hotel offers inexpensive and basic accommodations and is located close to many of New Town's bars and restaurants.

The staff was helpful for the most part. Units are small but clean and simply furnished with wood beds and tiny bathrooms with tiled floors. The bathrooms need some work as they are dark and missing items like the toilet paper roll holder etc.

However, Do NOT choose a room at the front of the hotel if you want to sleep! There is a 24 hour coffee shop whose lights and sounds came through the curtains like it was 2 feet away!

Our experience reminded us of the Seinfeld episode Episode 142 - The Chicken Roaster where the lights come through the window like its the rapture.

So you have been warned. It's a good value IF you get the right room. I hope the owners read this and correct the curtains and missing window panes in the front rooms.

Nice hostel in the heart of the Mariscal district - lots of internet cafes and bars etc in the immediate area. Very helpful staff and clean rooms. The really bad music from the 24 hr cafe across the street is annoying, but if you ask for a room at the back it should be okay.
