Recommended this little hostel by friends - and we loved it!!!

Alright, only 4 rooms and the twin we stayed in the first night wasn't perfect, but the double room we had on the second night was fantastic. Great size, great view and a really great owner! He could not have been more helpful and friendly, and his English is excellent.

In summary - definitely a guest house that we would stay in again and would definitely recommend! Thanks Alejandro!

I had to go to Valpo for work and needed to be near the port but the real pleasure was not so much the location which was excellent or the views from my room which were of the port and the sea but the service. Alejandro was an excelllent host, waited up for me when I arrived late, explained things, heaps of local information and a great breakfasts.

“A hostel with personality”

I would like to recommend Hostal Portobello ([-]), a pleasant place to base yourself in Valparaíso, which is located on a hill, right near one of the oldest elevators from the city. The view to the harbour is great. The hostal hosts, Alejandro and María José, were very friendly and helpful, giving some interesting information about the city, places to visit, and walking tours around the city. The house of nearly a hundred years old is completely decorated in an antique style, which offers a nice atmosphere. Excellent breakfast to start the day around the city, and at night the terrace is great to watch the bay and the harbor, enjoying a Chilean wine. I truly recommend these hostel. Three days in Valparaíso was not enough!
