This hostel is an absolute gem. It is run by the loveliest lady, Maria, who could not be more welcoming or more helpful. She bows to your every whim! The Hostal is charming, all the rooms have lovely wooden floors, high ceilings and are really comfortable and clean. There are only 5 rooms so it is a very personal service. Breakfast is freshly made for you every morning. It is perfectly placed for lots of lovely small intimate restaurants and the Ascensor Concepcion down to the main part of the town. It has free WIFI. Just a slight warning - it is situated on a bit of a hill so may be unsuitable for disabled visitors or those who are infirm.

My wife and stayed here in November 2010 and had a wonderful experience. Our room was spacious and immaculate. The hostel is family run and it shows in the service and attention to detail, down to the crisp, starched bed linen and home made muffins for breakfast. A very romantic place to stay in Valpo.

This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in Chile. Maria is a great host, and we instantly felt at home...almost so much so I didn't want to leave!

The rooms are clean, warm and comfortable (very comfy beds!) and the whole place has a very relaxed and peaceful air about it - it's a delight to come back to at the end of a days exploration. The neighbourhood feels very safe and there are lots of great little cafes and bars very close by.

I really think you would struggle to find somewhere nicer to stay in Valparaiso.
