“Nice location, expensive, small rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Manoir Atkinson is in one of the better locations in Valparaiso - roof terrace has a nice view. Our room was extremely small, hotel has no elevator, room had ill fitting furniture ( trying to look like antiques), safe did not work, breakfast was quite simple and spartan ( piece of cake plus a piece of ham and cheese). I think we overpaid for a location and some ambiance.

“Charming”

Manoir Atkinson is a charming hotel with excellent, English-speaking, service and a better-than-average breakfast in a perfect location. I spent three nights in a less expensive room without a view (at least, not a fancy view), and it was very quiet and comfortable. There are many good restaurants within walking distance--and I mean really nice restaurants, for dinner, that a single female traveler can walk back to the hotel from a tad tipsy after dark and feel perfectly safe. As everyone has said, the upstairs terrace is delightful, and the staff will bring up drinks or coffee. It's easy to spend an hour or so up there just watching the light change over the harbor.

“Beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

While we din not stay at the hotel, we had drinks on the roof top pation area. The views of Valparaiso and the Pacific are excellent. We were told by Judith, the owner, that on a clear day you can see Aconcagua in Argentina, but we had a light fog that day. There are other reviews that can tell you more about the hotel, but our best impression was meeting Judith. As non guests, she lent my wife a sweater for the day to protect from the chill while we toured the area. The staff were just as nice.

“Beautiful Inn”

My wife and I spent one night at the Hotel Manoir Atkinson and it was delightful. The location is excellent in a safe and friendly neighborhood. The taxi driver took us ther directly from the central bus station.

The hotel staff is excellent and speaks perfect English. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine on the rooftop while enjoying a 360 degree view of the city / port. The delighful staff arranged for dinner reservations, as well as a taxi upon our departure.

Our room (#2) was spacious and had a nice view of the port.

Breakfast was exactly as others have described it which included bread, ham, cheese, jelly, butter, fresh fruit, orange juice (fresh squeezed), coffee, and a slice of cheesecake. It was all good and I found it nice to not have to wander about town for breakfast.

The neighborhood is generally quiet and there are several excellent restaurants near by.

We stubled upon a few other hotels we considered booking and were very glad we chose Hotel Manoir Atkinson. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the port.

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011 via mobile

The location is fantastic, in the beautiful neighbourhood Cerro Concepcion. Don't forget to bring your camera!
The staff speaks English and is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room #4, which is not that big but is comfy with a great bed, TV, WiFi, food shower and a great view on the nearby Iglesia Luterana. The breakfast is good: fresh fruit, a pancake and bread with ham, cheese and jam. Beware though that it is not unlimited like in most hotels, for additional bread etc. you will be charged. The standard offering however is enough for a continental breakfast.
