We stayed one night in the Hotel Manoir Atkinson in Valparaiso.
It is a charming hotel with a great location on top of the Cerro Concepcion. First of all, the location of the hotel is simply perfect. We walked all over Valparaiso and must have visited basically all the cerro's and seen all the main viewing points, but we loved the view from the roof terrace of the hotel best. Great vistas over the Pacific Ocean and a great view over the rooftops of the coloured Valparaiso houses. The cerro concepcion is also very central with good restaurants in a few minutes walking distance and it is ideal to explore both the port areas as well as the other cerro's.
The entrance and central lobby on the ground floor is beautiful and it was great to have breakfast in such a setting.
We booked the smallest (and cheapest) room on the first floor which didn't give us a view, but we felt it was good. The rooms are fairly basic but tastefully designed in a traditional style. It was definitely large enough for us. The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi worked well.
Our breakfast was very tasty and despite breakfast being a limited affair in Chile, we had sufficient choice of some kind of cheesecake, different kinds of breads, cheese and ham and fruit.
I must admit that the service during our stay was correct but not always very warm, although the staff helped us whenever needed.
We would definitely stay here again if we were to come back to Valparaiso. It is great value for a great location in a charming building.
