“Location felt isolated.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

The B & B was very clean, good views, and easy to find when driving there. I think my biggest problem was the location. People don't always mention how gritty Valparaiso is, and while normally I don't mind staying outside the touristy area, we would have been more comfortable there. So, my 3 stars is mainly because of location and the isolation that we felt since it was the beginning of the low season and there was only one other person in the B & B, and she hadn't even seen the owner in the three days that she was there. (We did have a younger man who was there when we checked in and he gave us a map and suggestions for what to see in the city etc.) The owner finally came by when I emailed him to say that we would be leaving sooner than expected and needed to pay for our room. When we met him, he was delightful and very accommodating.

The kids in the neighborhood are also quite loud, although once they went back home, it was very quiet. I think at one point they were playing kickball against the garage door of the hotel, and apparently the night before they were up until 2 AM making noise on the street.
The walk to the sight-seeing areas really isn't all that far once you venture out, but I think we would have preferred to be closer to the more tourist friendly area of Cerro Concepcion.

Room Tip: Get a room with an ocean view.

We can understand people do not like our location. But Camila 109 B&B web site is quite clear about it, we do not say we are in the middle of the tourist area - the web site has a map indicating our specific location and also directions how to get there and to move around. And these couple booked a room through our web site.

If people look for good views of the Valparaiso and its bay, they should move up the hills.

It's important to say that we are at walking distance to the main attractions (15 minutes walk to Neruda's House and Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion, 10 minutes walk to the city centre).

Due to our B&B size (only 4 rooms) we don't have 24 hours staff, but we do have a 24 hour open telephone line (free of charge) to contact the owner for any help, question and complaint (for instance noisy kids on the street).

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2011

We stayed for 2 days at Camila 109 B & B. Perfect location, wonderful staff. We were referred to a wonderful tour guide Vivan who went out of his way to help us understand the culture and sites of this amazing town. The rooms we had were very clean, beautiful views and accommodating hosts. Located in the perfect area to walk and wander through the magnificent streets. Truly wonderful place to visit and stay. Will be rebooking my rooms here again next visit for sure!

“We LOVED Camila 109!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

We cannot say enough great things about this B&B.
Of the 4 places we stayed in the Metro region, Camila 109 was the best in every way.
The breakfast was outstanding; fresh fruit, cheese, bread, coffee. The hosts were incredibly friendly: you feel like they are friends. They suggested (not pressured) places to visit and routes to take. The room was cozy (small, yes but not a problem for us) - we had the room overlooking the terrace and city. The terrace access was great, we enjoyed a bottle of wine overlooking the city - beautiful. They allow you to use the kitchen and dishes (it really comes in handy more than you would think).
The location is great - it's close to the Pablo Neruda Museum (highly recommend visiting) and the walk down to the city and port are enjoyable. We rode the metro to Vina Del Mar to visit the beaches and museums there and it was very easy and quick to get to Vina and back.
The operation havs a "green" way about their operation: recycling and motion sensors on the bathroom sink.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Also, when touring around the city, stay within the streets on the map. We veered off the map and soon after an undesirable man told us we should be very careful or turn around...we turned around!

“A fantastic B&B - we'd recommend it to anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

We had a wonderful stay at Camila 109. The host was incredibly hospitable and helpful. He helped us settle in, explained the best parts of Valparaiso to see and how to get around. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Chile, which was made even better by eating it on the balcony overlooking the city. It’s also located very close to the ‘must see’ sites. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and quite. We’d recommend it to anyone!

“awesome view of the city of valparaiso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

the hotel is a bit difficult to find if you are driving. Our GPS got confused trying to find the street. But the views from the hotel are really beautiful and the hotel owners are really helpful.
