Very warm reception by the owners, free secure parking available, tea at the terrace overlooking the bay upon arrival and a detailed explanation of all the sights, restaurants and bars and how to find the different ways of transport through Valparaiso. We found a charming and nicely decorated and clean room including bathroom. Very quiet location on the hill overlooking the bay and a complete breakfast at the terrace. Free wifi in public locations but also in our room. Felt very secure. The Grand House is somewhat difficult to find through these narrow winding streets; one street down from Ave Alemania at the ascensor Cerro La Cruz. Not far from La Sebastiana, Neruda's house; walk down 10 minutes to Ave Francia and take a mini-bus 612 to La Sebastiana. Upon arrival owners will show every kind of transportations through the city; very helpful.

We stayed for 2 nights prior to leaving on a cruise. We had a very comfortable, clean room with private bath. The owners, Doris & her sister Carolina, could not have been more accommodating and spoke English very well. The breakfast, served on the beautiful terrace with amazing views, was delicious and filling. Even though the house is within walking distance of shopping & restaurants, we opted for taxis because of the steep hills - taxis were very inexpensive. Overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely stay again.

Small hotel, led and managed by 2 young ladies (sisters, speaking English very well) and owned by their parents, in an old Chile mansion, situated in the mountains of Valparaiso with wonderful panorama view to sea, harbour and city also from all guest rooms (double with shower/toilet). As the mother collects antiques, all clean guests rooms in different styles; living/dining room and terrace also for guests' use; extensive breakfast, internet free of charge; 5 minutes walk to city, taxis cheap; familiar and close
guest assistance. Wonderful hospitality. We arrived in the morning after the earthquake and the family gave us all neede help, cooked for us 1 x lunch and 3 x dinner incl. drinks at no charge, they shared all with us - a wonderful experience. We recommend this house for all guests who want to get to know Chile, the country and the friendly people

It was couple of years ago (2007) that we stayed at this B&B. I meant to write this before. The recent Earthquake in Chile made me think of this place again. I have contacted the owners to see how they and their B&B faired. Luckily for all, any damage to their place was to the china, not the house. The B&B and the Owners, survived intact.

Our stay there was our first two nights in Chile at the start af a two week cruise. What a great intiation into the Chilean Culture. The Ladies were attentive and helpful. We struggled with their language while they replied reasonably well in ours. They explained to us what we need to know to enjoy our stay in the area. We had a double room for my wife and I and a single for my mother.

Everything was Grand at The Grand House.
