We stayed at the Da Vinci for 1 night after our cruise. In retrospect, I would have skipped Valparaiso altogether and left the same day the ship docked. The hotel is OK. I would have considered it a luxury in my 20s but in my 60s I prefer a bit more luxury. The room was a good size, the bathroom very small and the shower claustrophobic. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. There was free wi-fi. The front desk was friendly but we were given the wrong information about getting a taxi to Santiago airport which led to a few anxious moments.
Valpo is a unique place but a day there was sufficient.

First the pros, the location is good and the staff very personable and helpful. The cons are that the room we had, number 7, a triple was very small and noisy. The shower could only muster a hard trickle of lukewarm water. The hotel itself was attractive enough

My brother and I stayed here for one night while we toured Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. I had accidentally booked the room for the night before we arrived. The lady at the front desk was very understanding. Since they had already charged my credit card as a no show and they still had our room available, they did not charge us again. So we only paid for the one night that we stayed.

The room was clean, but very small. There were two twin beds; one on main level and the other in the loft. The bathroom was also in the loft where the ceiling were only about 5'10" high. My brother is 6'3" and found it a little difficult to manoeuvre in the bathroom.

The breakfast was excellent. It started with fresh juice and a fruit plate. A bread basket followed and eggs were also an option.

This is not a luxury hotel, but neither is it a low budget hostel. The Da Vinci is located in the artistic center of Valparaiso close to many good restaurants and just a few blocks above the downtown and pier, close to the metro. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the breakfast is good, and there is a beautiful private seating area outside on the 3rd floor, a great place to drink a bottle of wine or few...
