this is an awesome place in Valparaiso.
The rooms are nice and comfortable, clean and airy.
The staff are super nice and friendly
The place is like quite cheap.
The breakfast is decent. The facilities and the common area are beautiful.

On the downside, you have to climb up a bit to get to this place from the main part of the town
but on the + side, this is right on the open air museum which is a nice walk

On the whole a great place

Hostal Caracol is a small hostel in good walking distance of everything Valparaiso has to offer. The staff are friendly and the common areas inviting – plenty of color and good design sense help make you feel at home here.

The rooms themselves at Hostal Caracol are small but perfectly adequate and after a long journey from the US, it was easy to fall asleep. The bathrooms are tiny but this is to be expected in Chile.

Overall, if you're looking for a simple hostel in a good location for a place to just sleep, this is a wonderful choice.

This place is up in the narrow streets of Bellavista Hill. From the moment we arrived we were made feel welcome by the nice staff. The double room we had was very nice, and while there was an issue with the hot water in our bathroom, as soon as we mentioned it, the owner apologised and offered us another room. There is a very nice communal tv room and kitchen which are both great for meeting other travellers.
The location is very nice, a short stroll from Pablo Neruda's house and the open-air museum (pretty disappointing, the murals in Cerro Allegre are better) and is easy to get down to El Plan using the ascensor that is a short stroll from the hostel and gets you down to Plaza Victoria.
I'd definitely recommend this hostel for anyone travelling to Valparaiso.
