My husband and I stayed at La Bicyclette in Valparaiso, Chile. We picked this hostel because he had a small space for one tent in the courtyard - it was the only place in the city that allowed camping. It was a tiny dirt patch, but we were grateful for it. I cannot speak to the quality of the rooms, but I heard other guests say they were nice. The shower was wonderful! The bathroom was good. The outside patio was lovely. Gilles provides a great breakfast as far as budget accomodation goes in Chile - tea or coffee, juice, bread and jam and either yogurt or another special bread. The thing that makes La Bicylette stand out is Gilles - he is SO helpful, cheerful and patient. He speaks Spanish and French (he is French) and English. He told us what to see and do in Valparaiso, as well as how to get to a very hard-to-get-to small National Park about 1 hour from town. He also helped us with other transport information. He was the most helpful accomondation host we had. He accepted pesos or US$. His little 3 year old son runs around the place. It is small, there is no kitchen access, but it is clean, friendly, well-kept and very central.
