“Nice Hotel-well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We went here as part of a honeymoon in South America December 2011. This was our first stop after a 14hr flight, and the hotel was very welcoming.
Located in the centre of town, there are several good restaurants in walking distance, and the metro station is very close also.
Room was clean and although a little basic, was fine for our needs.

Really nice hotel for the money we paid.
Only small issue is they charge a tourist tax if you pay in pesos?..but that was for all hotels in Chile. You're better paying by card or by US dollars if cash.

Really recomment Pizza Nastro down the road and the vegetarian restaurant round the block from the hotel.

Super place to stay...and felt very safe in the neighborhood.....my wife and I stayed there from Jan 2 to Jan 6th before a cruise out of Valparaiso......let us check in early after an all night flight from Canada at about 11AM....perfect was we were just totally burnt out... went to sleep for 3 hrs in the nice and quiet but smallish room facing the front of the hotel...room #16.....even on the front the room was quiet if we had the windows shut and the air conditioner on....supplied two free bottles of water each day but we drank the tap water also and had no problems.....had a double bed with closet....asked for the lock for the safe and it was free.....no fridge but they brought up ice when we asked for it to have cold drinks......the area...super and safe....walked all over day and night until 11 ish and felt safe...the street outside the hotel was a happening place....lots of people and restaurants....ate at two of them...loved the steak one...Bifteck and Lomits around the corner.....used the subway everyday...easy to navigate and about two blocks away.....there were big supermarkets close to buy food and snacks and of course beer and wine.....one was half owned by Walmart called....Lider's....great selection of wines to take on the ship....one day spent the whole day going to the Concha de Toro winery about 20 miles out of town on the subway....cost about a buck and tour about twenty....great way to spend one day.....got to see the country side.....breakfast good and nice to chat to the others in the hotel.....service good also....pleasant at the front desk and even lugged our luggage to the room and back down as have only one small elevator.....would stay here again if we ever to down to Chile again.....A 1 rating from us.....K and J

“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Our first time in Santiago (on our way to a cruise leaving from Valparaiso) this was a perfect choice! The service was great. The rooms were clean and spacious. The sidewalk cafe was an unexpected pleasure. In a safe, 'trendy' neighborhood, we found it the perfect choice. We then used the travel agency they are affilated with (AboutChile) to book a next day tour of Santiago, Vina del Mar and Valparaiso which also dropped us at our hotel in Valparaiso which was wonderful and reasonably cost-effective. Our stay and their services were wonderful, and we would certainly make this same choice again.

“Location, location, location....”

This hotel hardly requires more good reviews so I shall merely point out that its location is superb, assuming you are prepared to forgo the delights of downtown Santiago which is dauntingly busy by day and very quiet by night. Hotel Orly is in Providencia, a close-in residential area on Line 1 (red) of Santiago’s excellent easy-to-use subway. The hotel is between stops Pedro de Valdivia and Los Leones – both are five minutes by foot from the hotel. The neighborhood comes equipped with money changers, banks, drugstores, department stores, a LAN Chile ticket office, pizzerias, cafes and upscale restaurants (Le Flaubert is in the block behind Hotel Orly and Infante 51 is an easy 20-minute walk).

Room Tip: Rooms high in the back have large windows with views of foothills and Andes (on a clear day).

“Good location, small /loud room and unhelpful customer service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I was pretty disappointed in this hotel after all the tripadvisor reviews. It was decently inexpensive and a way for my husband and I to keep away from the large chain hotels in Santiago. We booked for 4 nights and ended up canceling our last night. We checked in late and were given the smallest room with no view (frosted windows out onto a rooftop when you opened them) and with a loud generator outside. We asked the next morning to move and they said they were full. I asked if they would let us know if something opened up and they reluctantly said yes. The breakfast area is nice in a little courtyard but every request I had was met with indignation.. For example, we asked if they could call and get us a reservation at a local restaurant and the reply was "you have the Internet, right?". I'm assuming this meant I was supposed to look it up and call myself? Then we asked for them to connect us to a toll free number to an airline we were flying a few days later and were met with "I'm busy". I have more examples, but i think these are pretty indicative of the kind of customers service we received the whole time we were there. Also, I think it's of note that this was not due to a language barrier as I speak fluent Spanish. 2 stars for location, breakfast nook and rate. negative stars for customer service and our room.

Room Tip: Don't get room 26
