“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

Location of this hotel is in the center of the city. Rooms were newly renovated and comfy with large new beds. We stayed here twice, with a week inbetween. In our first room aircon was a bit noisy in the second it was good. On our second stay the floor in our room was not clean - we had to ask to clean it, what they did immediately. Breakfast was OK. The only thing that annoyed us was the long time it takes to check in and out. Even when coming back after a week they scann in your passport.

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2010

We travelled with Celebrity Infinity from Miami through the Panama to Valparaiso Chile. At this time we walked with our cases on wheels to the bus Terminal which is about three easy blocks to walk. We caught the Tur Bus, which was clean and comfortable. The cost was $7 approx, this took us on about an hour and fourty minute beautiful scenic journey., whereby we caught a taxi at the bus terminal for $8 to the Panomericano Hotel. I strongly advise everybody to change the appropriate ammount of currency to what you need. Showing up with US currency, is the equivelant of showing up at Safeway in North America with Argentinian currency. There are money exchangers nearby (Cambio's) but are not open on Sunday.
Keep in mind you are in South America, the Panamericano is somewhat of a Boutique hotel. It's clean, the staff is wonderful and will do their best, but please have patience, checking in is slow. The free hot breakfast is more than adequate, the flat screen TV does show some shows in English but with spanish sub titles. You will find you are close to absolutely everything, the buisness people are extremely well dressed. You don't need to be afraid walking the streets, however, "ALL" the woment carry over the shoulder hand bags, do not under any circumstances have a hand carry purse, there are a couple of very fast runners in the area, that love Tourists who carry those silly hand purses. The water for showering is merely warm but that is the same as most hotels I have stayed at in South America. All in all I would stay here again

Cheers from a satisfied customer

“A pleasant stay in the middle of town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

Situated in the middle suburb of Santiago, a couple of blocks from both Plaza de Armas and La Moneda (Presidential Palace), this hotel was walking distance to most attractions. Walkable distance to main road and metro station for easy public transport to other suburbs. Staff were friendly and several could speak excellent English - those who didn't, still tried their best to communicate. Internet was free for an arbitrary 15 mins. Our double room had a king-sized bed, large LCD TV and was very spacious. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. Lacked tea/coffee/water jug in room, and one morning we awoke to some early furniture-moving?/wardrobe-building next door - but otherwise it was great.

“Lost reservation and still charged”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

We booked this hotel online, and when we arrived, they had our reservation but told us they did not have any rooms available. They escorted us over to a comparable hotel nearby and arranged for us to have the same rate there. However, once we returned home and received our credit card statement, we found that they still charged us for the room at the Panamericano. We called to resolve it with the hotel, but they gave us the runaround several times so we took it up with our credit card company. The hotel then told our credit card company that we didn't show up. I know mistakes happen, but with this many clerical errors happening, I'd avoid this hotel. The Hotel Gran Palace down the street was just as nice, had fantastic service, and is closer to the Plaza de Armas.

“Good if you stay 1 night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2010

Booked the hotel through the internet and had no problems. Arrived after a long intercontinental flight for 1 night. The room was spacious, with a king bed. Bathroom was also nice and equiped. The hotel is centraly located which, unfortunately, has drawbacks: restaurants nearby close very early and there is not much to do after 6 pm. Can't say anything about breakfast since we had to live for the airport at 7am and there was no service at that time in the hotel. No coffe shops nearby either. I suppose its O.K and definetly recomend it if you have only few hours and want to see the tpurist atractions in the center of Santiago. If you have more time - try another neighbourhoo
