It's not a four star hotel. It's even doesn't has a service room. The location is ok but, if you really want to enjoy the hotel, it's not the best option. The frigobar was empty. There's too much tourist too, so it's noisy hotel.

Reviews for this Hotel are a bit mixed and i do not undestand. The location is perfect. Next to the Presidential Palace. 4 blocks from Santiagos answer to Barcelonas "Rambles" and at the bottom of this pedestrianised street the main Square and fantastic shops. The fish market and the old railway station are still walkable. The staff in the hotel spoke English and where VERY VERY helpfull. The room was huge. Breakfast buffet excelled. The pool was to cold but It is, like all city centre pools, for sitting around. One thing, I found this hotel to be half the price on Hotelclub compared with expedia. Do not know why. I have lost most of my photos of the Hotel this is why it is a late review. In Santiago visit the Virgin on the Hill. The views are amazing. Go to Castillo Diablo Vineyard. Get your shoes polished. There are hundreds who will do it for 50cents/20pence. Santiago is a fantasic place and this Hotel is at the centre of it all. Enjoy!!

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to a cruise. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Santiago and is convenient to the various tourist sites in the town. The rooms are average but clean and adequate. It would not be a hotel we would stay in for the experience but is certainly all right for a brief visit in a convenient location.

The Diego de Almagro Downtown has 4 stars, but looks more like a 3 stars.
The room we were in (nr. 703) was very small, the bed was size was between a single and a queen size. the room was in need of a good renovation, while the bathroom was new, but very small.
the window, overlooking the noisy courtyard (with a very small pool always shadowed by the surrounding buildings), was not sufficient to light up the room, maybe because of the layers of dust covering it on the outside.. ask for rooms overlooking the street: they will be noisy as well but at least you will have something too look at and you will see the sun.

the breakfast was average, but you have to be there at the latest at 9.30, or you will miss most of the (good/average) stuff they serve.
you have free internet access from the lobby (only) computer, unless you meet the guest who spent hours playing at online poker while we were ther (but this is not the hotel's fault..)

the service is good, with friendly staff at the reception. the location is very good, just beside the Entel Tower and a few steps from the Moneda.

in conclusion, look for better places in santiago, as the fundador hotel, and try the Diego de Almagro only if you get a food rate.
