This is my second time staying in Los Alerces and it won't be my last. I love the wood construction, the common areas, the very comfortable rooms, their temperature controlled pool, their more than adequate breakfast, the view from the room. I love everything. Their personel are courteous, from Christy in reservations to Christian in the front desk, their service was excellent. Christian offered to burn my digital photos to a DVD in his personal laptop just in case that I might loose my camera, i wont loose my memories. Where else do you get that personalized service? I negotiate a rate of about $52.00 a night/room for two including breakfast if I paid with dollars. Make sure you don't pay the IVA and you can save the 19% tax charged. As with any wood constructions, you might sometimes feel the guests in the rooms on top of you when they walk in their rooms. they have hotel rooms and cabanas that could accomodate up to 6 people I think.
The hotel is on the road bordering the Llanquille lake, 1 mile from the Casino and the downtown. We walked to it several times and it only takes 20 minutes. It could be very easily one of the most beautiful walks you would do in your life. The views from the lake, with the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes in the horizon are breathtaking. the sunsets are unbelievable.
Add an LG 42" flat screen TV with satellite in your room and you will find Los Alerces one of the best places to stay in Puerto Varas. I am sure you will fall in love with it as I did.
