When returning from a holiday in Vietnam we organised a four day stay in Singapore. We wanted to experience a more authentic Singapore than Orchard Road so we booked into the Perak Hotel in Little India. This hotel was just what we wanted, it was close to two "people mover" rail stations, Bugis and Little India, it was within walking distance of Sim Lim Tower for our computer/camera needs and was surrounded by lots of little eateries and restaurants. At night the whole area "buzzed" with people, food, colour and shops. We loved it. The price included breakfast which we could eat outside on the little tables in the cooler morning temperatues or inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were spotlessly clean and met our needs perfectly. Singapore is easy to get around and with the nearness of the railstations, Orchard Road and other parts of Singapore are only a short railride away. Little India is one part of Singapore that is not to be missed for its vibrancy and culture, a little glimpse of Singapore's historic past. Nearby are mosques, temples and old shophouses, a wonderful mix of old world ambiance.
