Location-wise, I know that it's along Orchard Road but it is still quite a long walk to the malls. However, it's just a stone's throw away from the MRT, which means you can go anywhere in Singapore. The place has nearby stores and restaurants which was convenient when you get late night cravings.

YMCA has a newly renovated building. Unfortunately, they were all booked that night and we got rooms on the old wing. As I said, for the rooms, you get what you pay for. There's a bed, a refrigerator, a television and the usual amenities. The bathroom was pretty decent and always stocked. Housekeeping kept the rooms clean and always changed the sheets, towels, etc. One thing I liked about our room was the view of modern Singapore. I think our room was facing Orchard Road and Dhoby Ghaut.

Breakfast was included and again, you get what you pay for. It was delicious though and it was quite nice to watch people from different nationalities eat.

Knowing that hotels in Singapore are really expensive, I think YMCA is a good hotel for their price range.

all the stations.the hotel and the rooms are very clean n tidy,the breakfast is good,the people
are friendly and nice,and it is affordable,you wont find a hotel so clean and in such good locality at these rates.The only flaw is that the check in time is not flexible,we had to wait for 4 hrs to check in just because the cleaner had not cleaned the room as there is only 1 cleaner for the whole building!!

If you plan to take the MRT to this hotel, you will need to take the East West Line (Green Line) and transfer to the North South Line (Red Line) at City Hall and stop at the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. The exit closest to the YMCA is exit A Stamford/Bras Basah Road.

I have stayed at the YMCA a few times in the past. The Superior rooms are pretty decent while the standard rooms look a bit tired. On my most recent visit, I booked the Junior Suite with an extra bed and got a one double bed, one roll away bed and one bed mattress on a box spring on the floor. My room on looked a bit tired. But it was fairly clean.

The YMCA provides only one large bath towel per guests. That is, no hand towel or face towel is provided. For me, I found their pillows to be either too hard or too thin and soft. A bottle of oxygenated water is provided for each guest every day. I usually skip the free breakfast as there is much better food conveniently located nearby.

If your are like me and like to take the MRT, the YMCA is ideal if you plan to shop on Orchard or other destinations that are on the North South Line. The MRT is only 5 minutes walk away. While the Circle Line and North East line also stop at Dhoby Ghaut, getting to the actual trains will take a few more minutes of walking withing the Dhoby Ghaut station.

If you love to walk, the YMCA is about 30 minutes walk from ION on Orchard, 15 minutes walk from Bugis and maybe 20 minutes walk from Little India.
