My first exposure to Asian airport transit hotels was in Taipei, and I try to use them throughout SE Asia whenever I am on long hauls. By the time I hit Changi after flying for 18 hours, I was ready to sleep under a restaurant table!
I took a six hour minimum block at the Ambassador Transit hotel, slept for five, had a shower, watched some CNN and the plane jockey around outside and then left for my next connection.
Room was clean and basic, they provide toiletries if yours were in transit with your checked baggage, and it was quiet like a tomb.
Perfect for the target market. I was a happy customer.

we flew from amsterdam to Singapore , travel agent had booked and we had given bankcard number as per normal to secure booking, Travel Agent was told as soon as we landed we could acsess room, they are sold in 6 hour lots. We arrived tired broken leg etc , looking forward to a rest, NO NO !! you have to wait 3 hours to get into room , we quietly spoke to girls behind counter, we have booked paid etc, NO the result was we had to wait 3 hours. The girls need an attitude adjustment. the room when we finally got in were really good big bathroom , wheel chair friendly. Yes that was booked too. so please be carefull you check it out thoroughly. We have also warned our Travel Agent

We stayed in the transit hotel terminal 1 as the ones in terminal 3 and 2 were fully booked so we had to make our way to this one.
A must stay for anyone with a 7+ transit stay in the airport. We had a long 13 hour wait and so booked in for 6 hours and then did the free Singapore bus which was great. Would stay here again when travelling back to the UK and will reccommend to others to do it as well!

Changi has to be the only airport in the world with a swimming pool. "Great", we thought. We had a four hour transit, so we decided to take my daughter for a swim between flights.

The pool is not cheap - Sing $13.91 per person, even if your five years old. To be fair, the pool is free for guests who are staying in the transit hotel. The pool is outdoors, which is nice, as you get out some frest air and out of the a/c. The pool is a little old, and not too deep, but it's refreshing enough, and was popular with the guests.

The changing rooms have seen better days - they could do with a make over. Most of the shower heads didn't work, there was a lack of soap in the dispensers, and it took a while to find a key to a locker that would open. Not great!

As part of your $13.91, you get a towel and a voucher for a free drink. After our swim, I was hoping for a nice fruit juice or something tropical. When I went to swap my voucher for a drink I was offered flavour milk. I asked for something different - a coke maybe. I was told the offer was milk. "What if you don't like milk?". My reply was a shrug.

The deal is this - the pool is a great idea. My daughter certainly loved the chance to spend time having a swim. But The Ambassador needs to give value for money - the service and the facilities need to be better to justify charging close to $14 per person.
