We choose the YMCA according to its location and price. We are satisfied about it as it has a good value for money. Price in Singapore are very high in comparison with Malaysian ones but the YMCA hostel has good price and it seems more an hotel than an hostel.
Included in the room price there is a complimentary breakfast together with the access to a wonderful swimming pool.
The location is perfect as it is quite near to Orchard Rd.

I stayed over at the Metropolitan YMCA, Singapore when I visited there in January, 2011. We stayed there for 4 Nights. I went there with my wife and 3 year old daughter.

On the plus side, we found the place pretty functional, neat and clean. If you are searching for a place to just spend the night and plan to be outdoors the whole day, then this is a good place to be. It is relatively light on your pockets and it is centrally located. The breakfast is good.

On the negative side, the rooms are very small . There is room only for you to stand. It can get claustrophobic if you were to spend more time in there.

Check in was quick.

We got a Quad room which was pretty spacious. There were 4 single beds and a flat screen tv with about 17 channels of which, only about 5 were in english. Bathroom was spacious based on Singapore standards but room was well maintained and clean.

Breakfast was really limited, a protein, eggs, bread/noodles/rice, coffee and fruits. Quality was poor based on my standards.

Hotel has a pool. Quick 10 to 15 minute drive to Orchard. There was no 7-11 nearby so you need to really go to Orchard to get your needs.

It's a good hotel to just bunk in if you have plans to be out most of the day. For the rate, it is just right.
