“Central location, would stay again!”

Located diagonally across from City Hall MRT, this is a well-situated hotel for the leisure or business traveler. It's also near the Singapore Art Museum and the cluster of restaurants and bars along Queen Street as well as across from Chijmes (more restaurants and bars).

The hotel has added a new wing so you may want to request to stay in that area. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel has really good dim sum!

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing

“Great location next to Raffles City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I've stayed here several times before and then they had to renovate the hotel. Now we're back with them and we went like "wow", when we saw the lobby. They've expanded it to occupy the vacant lot next to it before so now you can enter the lobby after crossing from Raffles Hotel or Raffles City. And it's brighter, airier and has more aesthetic lighting. But I think, the renovation was mostly done for the public areas as the guest rooms were pretty much the same.

Singapore is an asian foodie heaven where you can eat at any time of the day and have choices from hawker centers to higher end restaurants. I've ordered room service here and food is pretty good and service pretty fast.

You can also walk to several tourist areas and if needed, the MRT at Raffles City is next door.

“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed here for two nights. We were concerned that we would not be given good rooms as we had prepaid, however the rooms were very clean and satisfactory. Marble bathroom with separate shower and bath as well as robes. Big room with comfortable beds. I even managed to forget an expensive coat and a pair of shoes, I called to ask about my shoes and they had the coat ready when I came to pick the shoes up! A stuff up on my part but I appreciated the honesty.

“Great location very bad checking in”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We arrived around 1 and the queue was already very long. We finally can rest in our room past 5. After a long negotiation with the front office we can get our room (executive) 2 rooms for 4 nights. They offered to "upgrade" us but smaller and older room. Luckily we didn't take the offer. Other than checking in process that takes very long, it is a hotel with great location. Overall staffs are friendly. They surely looks stressed up during the rush hour of checking in. Check out is speedy.

“Smell of old smoke in the rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I requested a non-smoker room, got one in the old tower on level 17, came in... and the whole room smelled of old, cold smoke. After cranking up the air condition, it was bearable, however the aircon was so loud that I couldn't sleep. After switching it off, the smell came back, and with it the noise from Bras Basah Road, pretty much unfiltered through the single-pane windows. Likewise the walls seemed to be made out of card board, so i could listen to my neighbours talking. After some restless sleep, I was woken up by the PA announcing that the fire alarm has been set off and that I should stay calm. After 10 minutes of no further announcements, I had to call the operator to hear she was sorry that it was only a false alarm.

I checked out 2 days early and went to a proper hotel.

Room Tip: get a room in the Premier Wing. they are fully refurbished.
