“Budget hotel in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

If you want a great location with limited budget, consider this. You have to compromise on certain aspects like room size, but we were comfortable as all the time we were out exploring Singapore. Everything is in a short reach; the nightlife at Clarke Quay, Orchard Road or Chinatown. In fact we walked down to Marina bay on the new year's midnight to watch the fireworks. we were two couples and enjoyed the stay.

Room Tip: Use the cloak room for luggage if you want to check out early

“Do Not Stay Here!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I was very disappointed with this hotel, so much so that I had to check out and find somewhere else to stay for the night.
The room was very small and hadn't been refurbished for what seemed to be many years. It was dirty (there were hairs in the shower and sink) and generally not well kept. When I said I wanted to check out the staff were rude, wouldn't allow me to speak to the manager or even give their name and refused a refund.
The only thing the hotel has going for it was it's location but there are much better options in the area. Do not stay at this horrid hotel.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

“Great Location, but Defintely Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The location of the hotel is really phenomenal for the price of the room, but that was all I found phenomenal. Of course, I expected the great price (for Singapore) would come with trade-offs. The trade offs are lack of personality. The rooms are functional but not spacious. The bed could use some sort of bedspread. I felt like I was staying in a hospital. Actually, I was visiting a friend IN the hospital, and his room had more charm. The staff was friendly enough and breakfast, which is included, is adequate with both Western & Asian fare. The Internet was not great. If you're going to make someone pay for Internet, it should be fast and reliable. I regularly use Skype, but the connection was too intermittent and I was unable to have a conversation without the call dropping every few minutes. Overall, if you're on a budget and want a great location, this is definitely one to consider. If you want a memorable experience on your vacation, better spend a bit more and stay elsewhere.

“Average quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Located on a small Robertson Quay - between Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. Before the Metro Clark Quay 15 minute walk. Location is good. I visited Singapore, I realized for myself that the best place where to stay here - Quay, Marina Bay is the ideal, but since everything is expensive - it makes sense to search surrounding areas. So the location is OK, except far to the subway. But the number of buses running. Rooms too small, but fine. There is a kettle, coffee and tea for two sachets, cream and sugar. King-size bed. But the prices are too high. I booked for 130 singdollars (higher than 100 usd) for 1 night, for booking two nights 260 sgd. The ratio of personnel is so-so. Wi-Fi in the lobby for a fee, can not remember exactly - daily fee, while need use in half an hour - hour a day. There is a computer - hourly fee. Breakfast is so-so. The next time I would not take.

“very old hotel in need of major renovations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

stayed for one night in Dec 2011 and man, was i disappointed. I had thought it would be a four-star hotel given its location and name, but it ended up giving me the impression that it was just a 2-and-a-half-star hotel.

we stayed in the deluxe room (twin-sharing at room 703). Room was clean but it was very small. Had a great view of the pool but quickly realised that the pool actually belonged to the posh hotel next door. the bathroom had a standing-room only shower area, a toilet bowl and a sink that looked like mine back in the 1980s. the ceramic tiles of the bathroom area are exactly those you find in public toilets at coffeeshops in Singapore (those that are old, smelly and disgusting, cos i think some coffeeshops have better tiles now). i had some bruises on my knees after showering, cos i kept hitting the faucet when i had to soap my feet.

super disappointed with robertson quay hotel's 'pool', it is actually a round circular pond which contained murky water. the common areas had carpets but these were old and mouldy. the 'continental breakfast' was a joke, cos they only served toast, baked beans, chicken frankfurts, juice, milk and cereals. there was no omelette or fried vermicelli, but i guess it was all snapped up by the time we went down at 10am.

won't go back again. for the price i paid ($150 per night), i expected more.
