“All-Inclusive Boutique Hotel; Comfy Beds, Great Shower & Meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We had a very nice 5 night stay at The Quincy. The room was compact, but not too small, with a modern/contemporary decor. Important things: the bed was very comfortable, slept great from day one; and the shower had great water pressure with a choice of hand held or rain shower head. No waiting for hot water either. Nice bed linens, thick towels and Moulton Brown bath products. Only downside to the room was there was no plug in the bathroom for the provided hair dryer so it had to be used in the room and the plug was not by a mirror. Overall though, not a big deal since everything else was so great. The breakfast had many choices of hot and cold items; and the dinners were very good... especially the pastas, many of them handmade! When I commented to the waiter on how excellent the pasta dishes were he told me that the head chef was Italian. After running around Singapore all day, it was very relaxing to be able to have a nice dinner with wine at the hotel... although the dining room setting was very casual and not fancy, the food was great and the menu varied each night. The pool area was nice, with a few chaises and a couch/sitting area set up, but the pool water was very cold, so we did not use it. It was a nice view though from the 12th floor pool deck. The airport pick up was very convenient, and our taxi back to the airport at the end of our visit was only 18SD. Our flight in was 6 a.m., and although we weren't able to check in that early (well, we could have paid extra, but we wanted to start exploring Singapore), they had some shower rooms that we were able to freshen up in, they kept our bags for us and we were able to check in early, just after lunch, with no extra charge. The staff was very nice and helpful when we needed directions and also made dinner reservations for us one night. We highly recommend The Quincy and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

“Modern hotel, good location, good rate - but dusty rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The Quincy has a funky decor and is a great deal considering its location (5 min walk from Orchard Road) and all inclusive meal plan (which was delicious).

The room was very compact but the decoration was modern. However, the room was incredibly dusty - to the point we immediately began sneezing when we came into the room. In fact, the black phone cord was so dusty the inside of it looked light grey and fuzzy! Disgusting. The decorative headboard also had a thick layer of dust on top. I called housekeeping to ask them to dust when they serviced the room the next day, but they did not. Pretty unacceptable.

Another complaint was that it was Chinese New Year and we were told by the lady at the front desk that Chinatown would be dead so not to bother going there. We found out the next day that in fact there had been a parade in Chinatown that night and the neighborhood was packed. That was a deal breaker and so we will not go back where the staff is so clueless about the town they live in, especially as we told her we were there for CNY. They also said they had a list of the 'only' restaurants open, which again was a lie. Maybe they were getting paid a commission?

In the end, I'd give this place a 3 and 1/2 if we could add half stars. Stay for the cheap room and nice decor, food, but don't expect anything from the service - and bring a duster!

Hi ecotraveller1978!

ThanQ for sharing your thoughts on Tripadvisor.

I am gravely concerned about the points you raised with regard to your room and the information provided to you and I would like to sincerely apologize for these.

I agree that it is unacceptable for a guest room to be in a state like you described, as our ultimate goal is for guests to relax and rest in a comfortable and clean room. I have shared your concerns with our Housekeeping team to ensure that this incident does not happen again.

I have also relayed your feedback to the Front Office team and stressed the importance of clear communication and providing complete information whenever they attend to guests’ queries. As most establishments close during the Chinese New Year, we came up with a short list of restaurants across different cuisines that operated during the holidays and I regret that there has been a misconception related to the recommendations.

Nonetheless, I would still like to thank you for your review as this shows us where improvements need to be made.

We do hope to see you again and the Q team will ensure to get more stars from you on your succeeding visits. :-)

“A great Botique Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

I visited in January 2012. I read great reviews about the establishment on Trip Advisor. I was perfectly happy with the choice I made. The complimentary transfer in a very comfortable vehicle was great. I arrived at the hotel early (about 9 am) and was allowed to check in at approximately 12pm when a room became available. Included in the price are 3 meals per day and the contents of the mini bar. This results in huge savings as you do not have to eat and drink anywhere else. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood close enough to walk to Orchard road. The decor is very modern. Downside is rooms are smaller than hotels I normally visit. There is no couch for relaxation inside room and not much of a sitting/relaxation area at for example the lobby. There were 2 very uncomfortable chairs at the lobby. The most dissapointing thing to me is that 15 days after having left the hotel my security/incidents funds have still not been released by the hotel and there banking partner. I have sent numerous requests for the funds to be released. At the time of writing this, the funds had still not been released.

Hi Dezign99,

I would like to thank you for taking time to read through our Tripadvisor site and for eventually choosing to stay with us. I am pleased that your stay was generally satisfactory.

However, I am sorry that there has been a delay with the release of the pre-authorization taken from your credit card. The request was sent to the bank on the day of your departure but unfortunately, what transpires thereafter between our bank and your issuing bank is beyond our control. I really do hope for your understanding and trust that by now that amount has been unblocked from your account.

Please drop me an email at kristinerefuerzo@quincy.com.sg if you need further assistance.

“Funky, friendly and fun.”

Funky, small and fun. Just what I wanted. Didn't realise the hill back from shopping was going to be so big on the way back from a long day on Orchard Road - but manageable! Breakfast was good, chef happy to prepare eggs however you wanted and staff more than obliging. Meals at night were large and very tasty. Never ate lunch there as always out. Weekend activities are definitely worth trying. Staff great to talk to for "local advice". Overall very enjoyable.
