“worth the stay; worth the budget”

my wife and i stayed for 6 nights on our pre honeymoon holiday just recently and both loved it. the room was clean, had a cottage like decor with wooden furniture and panels. the bathroom was clean with a stand in shower stall. lil inconvenient for some but good enough for us. there was enough room to move around. the floor was spotless, and best of all... no cockroaches!!

the beach was just 30 steps away, the restaurants, bars and shops was conveniently few steps away as well. towels and bed sheets were replaced daily, the staff were more than helpful, hospitable and pleasant. we went to maricar and jun's cute lil cafe (the owners); the food was great with reasonable price.

overall, i would highly recommend the villa paula to those who are looking for something simple with affordable rate. thank you maricar, jun and maritess for your friendly welcome and assistance.

see you guys again soon.

“Cheap and cheerful!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

I stayed here over the busy Halloween period. The room and location is fine no view but definitely a budget place.

“Reserved rooms..no more!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

i called the the girl owner of this resort and ask if she can booked us during the holy week of 2008. i am with my husband and daughter, my parents my sisters, and brother in law. she said she will email me back the rates. 2 days later after waitng she responded to my email indicating the rates. it is a super peak season, their rate is of course a bit higher but since it is very difficult already by that time to look for a cheaper accommodation i told her to reserve the rooms for us.

again she told me that she will email me as she is so busy with her work. after a week and there is still no email i called her again and ask her how can i make the downpayment , for the nth time she said she will email me but i can rest and relax as she already reserved the rooms for us. i keep on saying that it is hard to make a reservation at that time so i hope we already made a deal plus i am with my parents. she affirmed that i do not have to worry.

a week before our scheduled flight she called me offering me rooms from different resorts and hotels. i do not want to be rude to elders so i just followed her instruction to call but all of the place are fully booked already. what do you expect? it is only a few days away before the lent.

i told her my plea and our agreement, instead she texted me again another number for our reservation but i did not heed anymore as i am already irritated to her.how can she made the agreement and later on tell us that we should look for othe vacancies? she should have told me beforehand.

i look for their place when we got there March 2008. it is far from the shore which is not good since u will get tired before you can reach the white sand. and it looks like ur staying in an apartment. yuck!

i definitely do not recommend this place!

“Villa Paula... simple, fun and different kind of frills!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

A minute's walk to the nice, quiet, wider and less-algae infested beachfront, Villa Paula has sunny, folksy, clean, comfy rooms for a good price, especially those of us not wanting to spend an arm and a leg.

Close to talipapa for cheapo and tasty meals and supplies.

Maricar & Jun run a tight ship with helpful staff (and security). Plus points are neighbor favorite Baracuda Snack Bar (yummy tasty pancakes for breakfasts & a pork snitzel with pasta dish whose name I forget thats good for two!) and green ice at the bar...

“Budget Friendly; Near the beach & D' Talipapa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2007

Villa Paula is non-beach front but less than a minute walk to the beach. It is also walking distance to D' Talipapa (roughly 3 minutes). It is situated in Station 2.

The room is clean. It has aircon, TV with cable, refrigerator, emergency light, hot and cold shower, and a thermos for hot water. You can ask the housekeeper for free hot water.

Their bathroom is also clean and cute, almost perfect for me but it does not have a shower curtain (one of my pet peeves). So when you take a shower, the bathroom gets all wet, including the toilet bowl and the sink area.

The price is reasonable. The owner gave the room for P1,350 per night (off-season rate).

There is also a security guard at night.
