We stayed for two weeks at Surfers Home. We chose that hotel as it is directly at the Kitesurf Beach (Bulabog Beach) and we went to Boracay for kitesurfing. The hotel has a nice garden with a little restaurant which serves breakfast and drinks. Breakfast was excellent, included in the room rate, and we could choose whatever was on the menu. Breakfast was served even after 12pm.
At our arrival, the german owner Kathrin was attending a Kitesurf competition in Vietnam. The other staff told us that the hotel was fully booked and that we are being transferred to another hotel. We booked our room two months in advance. After one night, when the owner was back, we could finally move to Surfers Home.
The rooms were okay. Ours had a double bed, private bathroom with hot water, a nice balcony, fridge, TV and a fan (no Air-con). The room were not so clean, even though they got cleaned every day. At one day, we discovered a big mold under the soap dish which must have bloomed there for several days.
There are some things about the hotel to mention. The mattress was extremly thin so you basically were lying on the wood beneath. Quite a hard sleeping experience. Water pressure was so low, that we didn't have water if someone else was having a shower. The area was quite noisy, we had to use ear plugs to be able to sleep.
We wouldn't return to Surfers Home. What we disliked the most was that we got the impression that the owner didn't really care about her guests. For example, she preferred washing her dog first rather then taking care about us when we told her about being transferred to the other hotel for the first night. After talking to other kitesurfers, we are pretty confident that there are many places with a better value near Bulabog Beach.
