I came to Boracay and stayed for two nights at the Frendz Resort before I couldn't bear it anymore and started searching around for new accomodations. Ysobelle's was WONDERFUL. I am a 26 year old female traveling alone, and since I was a walk-in who wanted to book five nights, I was able to negotiate the cost down to about US$30 per night for their smallest room (which was still a large size for one person). No one told me that breakfast was included in the price, or that they had their own beach chairs out on the beach, but it was my own fault for not reading the leaflet they gave me, which made those points very clear. Plus, they'd already given me a huge discount.
Everyone was really nice and I felt safe here even though I was traveling alone. I was given a key to my room and a key to the front door, which was locked after 9pm. It was really nice that there are only three rooms, so it was very quiet. Another plus is that there's a cafe between the Ysobelle's and the beachfront, so that it takes less than 30 seconds to get to the strip of restaurants, but it's still set back enough so that partyers won't disturb you at night. The manager, Kim, and his wife Neng both lived next door, so they were easily reachable. There was a bit of construction going on across the alley (not the same construction that the reviewer below mentioned), but all I did was turn on the AC and put in earplugs, and I couldn't hear a thing when they started work in the morning. They have cable TV (albeit a small TV, but who goes to Boracay to stay indoors?), and hot and cold water. You just have to let the water run a while before it gets hot.
Someone made up my room every morning and they knew that one of the main reasons that I had left Frendz Resort was because of the mosquitoes, so someone came into my room every evening as well to spray some lemon scent as an extra precaution. I didn't ask for it, and maybe it's standard for them to do so, but I definitely appreciated the gesture.
No question about it - if I'm ever in Boracay again, I'll be staying at Ysobelle's
