I spent three days here for 3 days in December 2011, together with 13 members of my extended family. The reasons we chose this hotel: (1) central location (2) reasonable price compared to other hotels (3) near the beach and (4) reviews on Trip Advisor saying the hotel is very clean.
By international standards, this is not a 3-star hotel; maybe 2.5. The rooms are lit by harsh fluorescent lights, there is no carpeting (I suppose that's ok for a beach hotel where people track in sand), and the bathrooms are somewhat run down. Each of the rooms had two double beds and a pull-out bed (extra charge for more pillows). One room was smaller than the others but was the same price. My room also had a small sofa (cheap quality), coffee table, dining table for two, small TV, closet with lots of hangers, and a small refrigerator. The bedside lamp was useless for reading -- the bulb was so dim. There is a phone, no clock. The beds are very firm, but that didn't bother me too much. The water pressure in the shower is very weak.
The view from my room (311) was of the electric utility pole and transformers with a gnarl of electric cables. I can't believe the hotel was built so close to it. Anyway none of the transformers exploded while we were there so no problem.
If you're Filipino, you'll probably think the breakfast is ok (two free breakfasts every morning included per room). My husband, not a Filipino, thought it was terrible, except for the mangoes. The buffet included coffee, tea, pan de sal, sliced bread, butter, pineapple jam, muffins, eggs (scrambled one day, hard boiled on other days), rice, sausages, fried spam, bangus (milkfish) one day and sardines in tomato sauce on other days, mangoes, watermelon. There is also an a la carte menu, from which my son ordered chocolate pancakes one day. They didn't have syrup, but they gave him chocolate syrup. I saw in an older review that someone complained about flies, but there were no flies when I was there. It's not an open-air dining room.
The hotel is a short walk to the beach, but the walk is somewhat unpleasant. There is trash strewn on the sides and you pass by a garbage dump, right behind the very nice Boracay Regency Hotel. Very smelly. There is no sidewalk and you have to dodge the tricycles and mini-vans driving by. If you can get past the guard, you can make the walk a little bit more pleasant by walking through the Boracay Regency Hotel.
We didn't use the pool but the pool area looked nice.
The rooms were clean but you have to TELL them every day that you want your room cleaned or they won't do it.
Towels are thin and they don't provide hand towels.
You get two tiny bars of soap and two sachets of shampoo. I suggest bringing your own shampoo. No lotion provided.
Service is friendly and efficient. On our first night, the spigot in the shower came off. I pushed it back in place and we were able to take a shower. Next morning I told the front desk that it was broken, and someone came very shortly to fix it. We had to leave early one morning and the hotel staff brought out the breakfast early to accommodate us (except for the mangoes).
Beach / pool towels are provided for free. You have to sign for them.
I suppose I would stay here again only if I really didn't want to pay for a more expensive hotel. If there's a next time, I would try to stay at the Boracay Regency, which has its own beach chairs and tents on the beach. There is a man who watches the tents to make sure non-hotel guests don't use it! The Boracay Regency also has its own boat to ferry you between Caticlan and Boracay, as well as its own shuttle buses to transport you from the hotel to the pier. You will pay more, but you will also get more.
Room Tip: Don't stay in Room 311 if you're concerned about the utility pole being too close to you.
