This was my first trip to Boracay and after careful research I decided on booking a beachfront hotel in station 3, away from the crowds. I was a little dubious after reading some of the rather negative reviews on Arwana, but the price averaging around 48 Euros for a 7-night stay was pretty good considering I arrived during high season.
When I arrived in the early afternoon my room wasn't ready but the male front desk clerk was very polite and apologetic, and I only had to wait 20 minutes. I had booked a standard room but was given what I believe was probably a superior room on the 1st floor - an added bonus!
Rooms and bathrooms are fairly basic but very clean. My room wasn't cleaned on only one occasion, but I didn't complain and this seems to be the "norm" in other Boracay hotels too. Plenty of hot water and water pressure was very good. The A/C was a little noisy on the high setting but I found that it was perfectly adequate and much quieter set on low at night.
Breakfast and other food from the snack menu are very good. Drinks are very reasonably priced, especially during happy hour which lasts most of the day.
Service was very good and all staff extremely helpful and friendly - a big thanks to all of them for making my stay so pleasant!
Location is excellent for those who want a peaceful setting and don't mind a 10 to 15 minute walk to the mall and station 2.
There are several great places to hang out near the Arwana, so you don't need to go down to station 2 every night, and I could easily find a quiet spot to relax on the beach.
Only negative point was no fridge in the room.
I really enjoyed my stay here and after comparing the rooms and amenities to other nearby hotels in a similar price range, I found the Arwana is a very good deal. I'll definitely be back!
