“Not sure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Just stayed at the Blue Mango between Christmas and New Year 2011. I booked at the Blue Mango based on the great reviews it got. I am just not sure what all the hype was about. The rooms are ok, if you are careful you can get warm water. Was staying right at the back in what was supposed to be a family room with one bathroom in the main bedroom, there are bathroom traffic jams. One of the things they don't tell you going to Boracay was you will likely have your connection to Manilla cancelled or delayed either going there or going back. Prepare for it. We spent Christmas eve in Manilla. These little side visits and associated transfers end up being expensive, make sure you have insurance. Vaughan did not charge us for the night missed and that was appreciated. First night was Christmas night and the Karoake machine was 20 meters from our room, fortunately this was only a problem on the first night. The standard breakfast is eggs and toast from day two they never had any bacon and there were various shortages throughout the week. Our candlelight diner had to be put together from the main menu because of shortages. It was not unpleasant, just lots of stuff not available. The owner had left on holiday, the staff were all very pleasant but the rooms didn't get made up and our room was very musty and damp. The place was really busy but still you are either ready for busy or not, they were not. Service was poor, twice I ordered a mango shake from the bar to have it never delivered, people from the bar seldom go out to the beach so you have to trek in. There are not enough beach chairs for guests at the hotel, so get up early and grab one. Also I would suggest new umbrellas. The competition around Blue Mango seems to be catching on to all these things at similar prices so BM needs to upgrade. The Blue Mango Dive Shop is a mystery, it is not as in the photo on the website. The dive shop is well not there. There are lots of dive operations on the Island so this not really a problem. I have lots to say about the diving but will not do it here.

Room Tip: Get the rooms near the front that overlook the beach. They are quieter and the first serviced.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 weeks at the Blue Mango Inn. Service was friendly and efficient from the moment we made enquiries & this continued throughout our stay. Vaughan went out of his way to check everything was ok for his guests & made us feel very welcome.

The location of the inn was perfect for us - the best in Boracay in my opinion. It's on a quiet, laid back part of the beach with a few nice chilled out beach bars nearby and amazing sunset views. It was a 15-20 minute walk to DMall or less than a 5 minute walk to the main road to take a trike.

We booked a garden room but were upgraded to the family loft, which was a two bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking the garden. Unfortunately we had some work to do while we were there so this room was perfect for us - we could sit on the balcony & get on with our work in a nice, private environment. The free wifi was great in the reception area but didn't always work in the room.

Breakfast was good & served whenever you wanted - my boyfriend loved the banana pancakes! Any food & drinks you ordered throughout the day were charged to your room so you didn't have to worry about having cash on you whilst on the beach - the mango shakes were fab! There was unlimited free bottled water and beach towels for use, both of which were really handy. The airport pick-up and drop-off was also very helpful.

We were more than happy with our choice of accommodation and would definitely return to Blue Mango if we ever visit Boracay again. We wanted to spend our time in Boracay relaxing and unwinding and this was the perfect place to do that!

“Beautiful place beautiful service”

First, ignore all of the naysayer reviews I this site; contrary to what they say Blue Mango is one of the nicest budget hotels imaginable. The service is friendly and the staff welcoming, equally a lot of the basics have been gotten right (I.e. cleaning, beach towels, fresh water). The breakfast that you get is great, the mango pancakes are a real treat, and the beach front bar is wonderful; quite enough to find a seat and with a breathtaking palm fringed sunset view. For the location alone stay at this slice of paradise.

“Our go-to place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

My family LOVE Blue Mango and it is our go-to place when we visit Boracay. The other reviews are correct in that the rooms could do with a refurbishment and the cleaning rota is maybe not followed as closely as it could do when they are really busy BUT the friendly welcome and service provided here more than make up for any shortcomings. Vaughan and his staff can arrange anything for you, sort out anything for you or get anything for you that you might need. They are very flexible and accommodating and follow through with requests - not always a given here in the Philippines.

We also love the location as it is a 10/15 min walk to the loud and buzzing hub of Boracay but we can relax on the beach in the relative quiet and know that the children are not going to get lost on a busy beach. The sand is not a fine down at Boat Station 3 end but you would have to be a real beach aficionado to notice.

This is the type of place that I want to HIGHLY recommend but I am loath to as I want it to be available when I come and stay :) Give it a try - you will not regret it.

“Good little inn in Station 3”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Stayed there in late Nov 2011.

Inn is just by the beach and staff is friendly especially the two lady staff that is running the show.

Owner Vaughn is friendly too and give good advice. They have several types of room and we took the family room that can sleep 6 person.

Food in the restaraunt is ok. You will need to try the Bicol Express which is fantastic. We ordered finger food which comes in generous portion.

Will stay there again is I will to vosot Boracay.
