Good location. In malioboro street.. where you can find the Jogjakarta atmosphere straight away, Its also a walking distance to Pasar Bringhardjo and also to the palace, though i rather took the becak to go to the palace :).

As for the rooms, all is out fashioned, the elevator is so small and a bit creepy. The price for the hotel is adequate to what you get, its also include breakfast which you wont be sorry if you dont have time to have breakfast anyway, since what they serve is also just a very basic taste of food and variety.

All in all,we choose this hotel because of the location only, nothing more.

Its the 1st time being in Indonesia...and my 1st stop was Yogyakarta...
Having a place like Mutiara Malioboro Hotel is the best...Malioboro is one of the best shopping area...with a lot of souvenir shops and great food....people there are also nice....the hotel was good,clean and staff were very helpful
shopping was a distance away...lots of Indonesian craft and "Batik"....
Apart from the shopping....the most amazing thing was visiting the Merapi Volcano...It was my 1st time looking at a life volcano and it does took my breath away. I was stunned by the beauty of it and the surrounding...although it took quite sometime to reached the merapi area but it was worth it...n having a chance to went for a spa really paid me for all the hard work that we've been working earlier on...

Location can't be beat. Set back from the road a little it's a short walk or taxi ride to most places you will want to go to in Yogyakarta.

Rooms are large but getting a little old now, a bit gloomy as well. The rooms facing the back do get the full blast of the call to prayers several times a day...

Good breakfast buffet with friendly staff.

There are actually 2 Mutiara Hotels located in Malioboro. You should get the newer one or, some say, the second/south one. They are only separated by one building. Staff service was friendly. Checked in with no hassle. Room quality, good. Spacious and with a tub in the bathroom. But elevator needs renovation. Breakfast was quite nice, but need more variety. Since, it is in the middle of Malioboro street, going around and about is easy. Just go out and find what you're looking for. All and all, it's good choice to start your adventure in Jogja. A bit subjective, but I think it's only second to an Ibis Hotel just within walking distance from there.
