“stay in Jakarta - stay in Grandkemang”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

During my visits in Jakarta since years I like to stay in Grandkemang. It´s a hotel where you feel a bit like home. Breakfast is wonderful, rooms are great and the cleanness is perfect. Internetconnection via wlan is fast and running very well. In the hotel you can find a wonderful Restaurant and a wonderful Bar. Around the hotel you can find shops, bars and restaurants, too. My recommendation: stay in Jakarta = stay in Grandkemang

“Pleasant staffs but that's about it....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Spent 5 nights in Grand Kemang. I was first a little surprise at the lax of security when we are entering the hotel & the scan at the door? It was barely sufficient. The staffs at the conceige were friendly though. The bellboy as well as he offered to get me things that I needed as it was late & I didnt want to wander around. I was woken up at 430am in the morning, because there was a rooster croaking outside the window ?!?! My rest was deeply affected by it which was undesirable as I was on business trips and rests are very important. I requested for a change of room, which they obliged. I was told to pack my things and it will be placed in the new room for me, but when I went back to the hotel in the evening, I was told my things were still in the original room. So much so for me rushing to pack my things in the morning as told. Water pressure was low and it was either that or cold water bathing even after the fix. TV channels were limited. Beds were a little too soft for my preference. Complimentary water was just 2 small bottles and if we were to ask for more, we will have to pay for it (?!?!). Breakfast was a spread but strangely, I could not find much food to my fancy, which was rare. The swimming pool was quite small as well, which didnt appeal to me at all to want to swim in it. The only good things that I had taken away from the hotel would be the friendliness of the staff. One of the conceige staff gave me a good recommandation to food places around the hotel for dinner (& the food was cheap & good). Another staff that caught my attention (& subsequently recommanded in the comments list) was the coffee man in the breakfast area. He asked me what I would like on the first day and on the subsequent days when he saw me at the breakfast, he would bring me my preference without me asking! That is what I called attentive service!

Room Tip: Ask for inner rooms, which are much quieter if you prefer a good sleep (but no views at all).

“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Spent 8 nights in the Grandkemang, and it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The rooms were certainly acceptable and generally comfortable, but would benefit from some upgrades and improvements: wifi accessible and functional in the rooms, some way to turn off the bathroom light, and someway to not have the airconditioner come on (freezing) while the key card is removed and you're not in the room (thought those mechanisms where you had to put the card in the slot to turn on the lights were meant to SAVE energy??).

Room service was very good and the food quality was excellent, as was the quality and variety in the breakfast buffet - especially the omelet and waffle station! It would be nice to have a variety of local tropical fruits, though! Service was generally good, but spotty at times.

The pub was pretty lousy, in terms of food options, but enjoyed the bar and pool side service! The gym was acceptable, and the pool was very pleasant, and the Business Center set me up with an awesome massage in Kupu kupu spa!

Overall, will happily return in the future.

“Sleepin in the club”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We are staying in this hotel (present) since 4th of January 2012 then in our 1st night we couldn't sleep because we heard music so loud from the club or bar (i'm not sure) as we stayed not far from the bar/club. So on the day after we complained to the front desk as we have 1 kid and you put us in the room close to the bar/club, so they suggested us to move and then we moved! Unfortunately even we moved they put us above their ballroom (even noisier), so my husband complained for the 2nd times . Then tonight at 10.30 PM on 14 January 2012 for the 3rd times we heard again music so loud from the ballroom that even windows are shaking and then for the 3rd times my husband complained but they just said sorry and the funny thing the front desk giving an unwise and silly excused (in my opinion) explained that they just about to inform that there's an event, can't believe it!!!!!! It's making my husband even more upset, so there's another person from the front desk explained and proposed to my husband to move. Can u imagine is 10.30PM, and we've been staying more than a week and they proposed AGAIN to move???!!!!!!
Avoid this hotel if your objective is to find a place to sleep.

“Good for it's price and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We chose this hotel initially because of its location in relation to errands we had to run while in town. But it was a pleasant surprise as we pulled up to the driveway and was promptly assisted by both Security and Bell Services with our luggage.
Prior to arrival, we had requested for an early check-in and Reception was prepared with our room ready in hand upon arrival at 10am! Not many hotels would accommodate such requests and we were very appreciative.
The room (and bathroom) are small but clean and up to date in terms of furnishing and services. Complimentary wireless internet is available and fuss-free to connect.
Breakfast is presented in a buffet spread with continental, asian and japanese fares made available. Again, like I said initially, this hotel is value for money and only 20 minutes drive from major shopping malls.
Around the hotel you will also find good eateries such as Starbucks, Shabu Nobu, fast-food outlets, dim sum places, etc.
Recommended if you're zipping in and out of town and would like accessibility to nearby food outlets and shopping malls.
Good to know this hotel is part oft he "restyle" group.
