I have been to Jakarta many times over the past years, but never stayed in this hotel.
It is not a new hotel, but the ambience is fantastic. Room is good. I booked for Deluxe Room but was upgraded to junior suite. The room is not bad, except for junior suite the bed is small. It has all the facilities, including internet access which is very important to me.
The swimming pool is not to my liking, perhaps it needs refurbishment.
The location is good, close to Block M and Pasaraya shoppings malls so it is convenient for thoser rushing to do business and buying things for home.
I would stay there again and hope this time their renovate the swimming pool!

This is a great location in South Jakarta.The rooms are small but cozy.The beds are really annex and I must say sleep quality was great.The bathrooms need upgrading.The breakfast at the lobby restaurant is very good.The quality and choice is actually is of a higher grade hotel.This is probably why my guests loved to meet for breakfast even though I offered to meet elsewhere.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly.The mall across the street is called Pasaraya and its a good place to pick up some quality gifts and souvenirs and its open till late.I also recommend the Japanese restaurant Tsukinofone adjacent to the hotel.The place has some of the best modern japanese food i ve had anywhere.fantastic presentation and innovative sushi combos.
The pub at the hotel takes you to a typical british pub atmosphere.great place for a few drink and catch the latest on sports and shoot some pool.If you got a day or two in jakarta this is a good place to stay.

I hadn't stayed here in about 12 years when I returned in October. The rooms are tiny, and the staff is nowhere near as good as they used to be. Many of the new ones don't speak English very well... but they are all very friendly.

Breakfast is limited. Dinner at the pub is OK but the pub seems to cater to some very unusual clientele.... I wasn't very comfortable there.

The gym has mostly old equipment that isn't in very good shape.

I stay at Ambhara just for one night on way from Semarang to Batam via Jakarta. From the first enter, I was warmly greet by hotel staff. Unlike the ordinary staff, you will find the sincerely greet from the staff.

My junior suite room was quite small (even very small indeed). the balcony is available, but locked by the hotel. But considering the view and noise outside (even with the door is closed, you still can hear the noise outside, it wont worth anyway to enjoy the city view from the balcony. The rate is not including the internet connection which for me is not reasonable compared with other hotel with the same rate.

In general, the hotel interior is old fashioned type. It might be attractive for some people, but it is not for me. I just love the suite section, which we have something like private hall for the guest stay at the suites.

The breakfast menu and restaurant are regular, nothing is bad, but there also nothing can considered as advantage.
