“Best Blok M option.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

If you plan on spending time at Blok M then this is perfect place to stay. It is not the cleanest place but more than clean enough. It feels like millions of cigarettes smoked and an equal number of shady deals have been cut within the hotel walls. Feel perfectly at home in Blok M bar area! Expect a strong local 3 star standard and you will be satisfied.

“Very good value for money, good location, very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Stayed here for 2 weeks on business and will stay here again. For me, ideal location as only 10 minutes on foot from office. Booking through Tripadvisor very easy and worked very well, better rates through internet booking than at hotel. DeLuxe Room (non-smoking) quite basic but all essential facilities, a bit dimly lit, good selection of TV channels, writing desk, bed VERY comfortable, A/C efficient and not too loud, coffee/tea facility in room. Minibar (non-alcoholic) ok but a bit basic. Bathroom basic, clean, full sortiment of usual cosmetics and hair-dryer. View from windows nothing special and somewhat dismal. Room service (food and cleaning) very friendly and efficient, rooms very clean and well sorted every day, laundry service fast and not too costly. Boradband in room available on daily, weekly, monthly rates, price acceptable.
Hotel facilities fine, taxi service, bell-boy, reception and business centre very friendly, accommodating and professional. Small shop even more than willing to charge your NOKIA phone free of charge if you have forgotten your charger :) Breakfast standrad buffet, in main restaurant a daily changing buffet theme for lunch. Food quite tasty but has a tendency to be cold because staff leaves containers open and heating not very efficient. Cake shop, a French patisserie/cafe style place, a cozy pub with friendly and not pushy staff, prices ok, a wonderful national food restaurant serving Padang food - quite good (but in the countryside better and more authentic) and tasty, good selection. Eveneing music entertainment (unfortunately also some Karaoke at times). Part of the hotel is also a delicious Sushi Restaurant serving nice sushi, tempura, sashimi and other delicacies at very acceptable prices - book early to avoid disappointing wait as the restaurant seems to be very popular.
Didn't try the health club, spa, massage and swimming pool this time but will do so next month.
In summary: Very good value for money and a friendly attentive atmosphere.

Room Tip: Request non-smoking rooms early as they seem to be in short supply.

I liked the hotel... staff were friendly especially the people who clean the room.

Room is clean and the breakfast buffet was awesome. We will definitely be back to this hotel :-)

“There are other hotels that provides much better value for the same price”

I stayed in this hotels twice, both occasions were disappointing. The room is poorly lit and look old, breakfast is just average. It is pricey for the values they offer.
I do heard that they have nice pub which I did not have chance to try though.

“Buyer Beware”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2011

My first impression of this hotel was middling -- due mainly to the property being a bit threadbear and needing a makeover, and the staff being less professional than the staff in other Jakarta hotels. However, the location was convenient for me so I decided to give it a try. That was the genesis of my horrible mistake.

I had gone to bed in my dim room and after a couple of hours the phone rang. It was the middle of my night and there was nobody on the other end. A similar silent call had come in the previous day, but the first time it has happened in the middle of the night. I left the phone off the hook and went back to sleep. An hour later the doorbell rang. This is the middle of the night, mind you. I got out of bed and went to the door to find a uniformed staff member . He was checking to see if I was inside my room. I closed the door in his face, then called down to the front desk to see if I could get the manager on the line. The guy at the front desk stammered and hesitated and stumbled around and finally I asked "what time is it right now?" He said, "right now sir, it is 57 - 33."

So at 57:33 I got dressed, and stormed down to the front desk to talk with the manager about why I had been rousted. To my surprise, the guy that had been at my door was the manager and he met me in the lobby with a sheepish grin.

He showed me a list of rooms with a penciled circle around my room number and explained that housekeeping didn't know if I was inside my room or not, so they needed to find out. I asked if they were checking all hotel gusts -- no. I asked if they would be checking on me in the middle of every night -- no. I asked why I hadn't been awakened for a check the previous night -- no answer. He kept saying, again and again, we thought you weren't in your room....and we have to know if you are in your room."

Needless to say I checked out . Buyer beware. The management of this hotel appears to have a curfew on guests and will wake you in the middle of the night to see if you are in your bed. there are better hotels close by -- if you have your wits about you (and want to sleep at night) you will book a room there, not here.

Room Tip: to get the best room -- go elsewhere.
