The Four Seasons in Jakarta is a good hotel, with large rooms (on part with other five stars in the city) and friendly staff.
The buffet breakfast is excellent, and they mix it up each day so you won't be bored. It is pretty expensive relative to the cost of food in Jakarta (about $25usd).
One thing that I find extremely annoying is that, for the money you pay, it is ridiculous that they charge for Internet ($20 USD or so per day!) and then to add insult to injury, they don't even have WiFi! So if you have an iPad, you are out of luck, because you need to be able to jack in a network cable. The Internet is also very slow, especially considering the cost (two days of Internet here is approx equal to what I pay for a whole month at home of significantly faster Internet). For reference, I was unable to run Skype properly because the connection was so slow. And this is supposed to be a business hotel? Ridiculous. A five star hotel shouldn't nickel and dime you over the cost of Internet; it should just be included (and it is at other five stars in the city!).
The gym is well appointed but much warmer than it should be. The pool area is nice, but for some reason it was really smelly when I was in the pool. This may be due to burning trash somewhere in the area, but I did not find it pleasant!
One thing I should note is that there is nothing in the vicinity that is walkable. You will have to take a taxi everywhere, which is fine because taxis are cheap, but it can add a lot of time if you just want to run to the corner store.
The hotel stocks the rooms with L'Occitane products which are fantastic. The cleaning staff are also excellent, diligently cleaning the room twice a day.
The hotel is very safe, like other five stars in the city. Your vehicle is stopped and searched whenever you arrive, all bags are x-rayed, and everyone passes through a metal detector. No worries here!
Overall, I would say it does a respectable job for a five star, but for the money (especially when adding the ridiculous cost of Internet on top), you might want to check out the Hotel Mulia, Ritz-Carlton or JW Marriott for better value and better locations.
