“Good for expat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

If you are getting bored with the modern-minimalist furnished hotels then you have to try this one. As an Indonesian, i really like the idea of this hotel's theme which is very Indonesia.
Staying at this hotel you will feel like you are experiencing the real Indonesian identity; the personalized in-room check in process, the butler service, the wooden craft furniture, the staffs' uniform as well as the breakfast menu. I also like with the fact that this hotel is not a big 30 story hotel. Thus, it's less crowded and you can really feel the warmth and the intimacy.
Why i say that it's good for expat not only because of the above but also because its location is very near Kemang which is the area for expat to hang out and the hotel area also very serene for Jakarta standard.
I also like this hotel for meetings because the meeting room has direct access to the garden so it helps the smoker.
The only minus point that i can remember is that they still use old tube TV. The last time i stayed here was around 1 year ago, so i hope that has changed.

Room Tip: Higher floors to avoid the mosquitos. This is a resort-like hotel with huge garden so yes there are...

“Exceeding your expectations of hospitality”

I must admit that i was shot down by the service they offered me during the stay, I have stayed twice, once i was offered a suite as the deluxe room was not available. The wooden furnitures and decorations you could see across the hotels would for certainly attract your attention. Breakfast was very much enjoyable you have wide variety to choose, 3 chef waiting for your order in Chinese, Thai and Indonesian food.Front Desk, Concierge, bell desk, every one exceeded my expectations. My rating scale was limited here by excellent in tripadvisor, would rate Dharmawangsa, one scale above that.

“resort like hotel in the middle of the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Dharmawangsa never fails me...It remains my favorite hotel for family trips as it gives you the feels of home. The pool makes you forget that you are in Jakarta....and the ambience is so stylishly Indonesian! The services are excellent, and the food at the Jakarta Restaurant is also good. You may want to ask the butler for scented candles if the bathroom gives you unpleasant smell and make sure you close the door to the balcony all the time; otherwise, you might be busy tapping the mozzies in the evening!

“Disappointing Experience n will not return ...until it is renovated !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011 via mobile

This hotel has an excellent reputation as a 5 Star Boutique hotel so my wife n I decided to treat ourselves to a date night. What a waste of money. The hotel appears not to have been renovated in 10 years. The beds were not comfortable. Pillows were not comfy n need upgrading. Bed does not have plush mattress topper. The tv was tiny n had to be viewed at an angle. The bath room had no sanitary hose or bidet ( which is a must in Indonesia ).

The buffet was over priced n limited selection ...although the food was tasty.

We expected a sleep n bathroom experience superior to our home but found it less enjoyable than some 3 star hotels we have tried in Indonesia.

“A bit of Javanese/Balinese tranquility in the heart of chaotic Jakarta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Wonderful hotel, very nice ambiance and good value for the business traveller. If you want the big busy business hotel with pianos and jazz singers, don't go here. This is smaller and has a very old Javanese ambiance. A nice retreat after hours in the Jakarta traffic. The concierge service is very helpful too. The only negative was that there was some construction going on at a neighbouring building and it was quite noisy at least until midnight. It wasn't hotel construction, and knowing Jakarta, I'm pretty sure there wasn't anything the hotel could do about it.
