We stayed at Dekuta for 6 nights. Out of the 6 nights,
We arrived at noon, and were made to wait until 2pm sharp before checking in. We left the hotel to wander around Kuta central rather than sit in the waiting area which was not air conditioned.
The first 3 nights we stayed in their Deluxe room. The room was small and the bathroom had a funny sewerage type smell hovering in there the whole time. Much like other reviewer's comments.
We called front desk to complain about the ordour from the bathroom, they sent housekeeping up to clean the toilet and gave it a flush, and sprayed the room with freshner and left. Which really didn't cover the smell at all.
We had a compulsory christmas eve dinner paid for, so we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was not air conditioned either, but it was cool by night time, so it wasn't too bad. The food and drinks were surprisingly good,
On the second night, we discovered that the air conditioner in the room was leaking water, it started at about 11am at night. we thought we would leave it in the morning as they wouldnt be able to send anyone to fix that at that hour of the night anyway. The next morning when i woke up at around 6am, as soon as i stepped on the floor i was shocked to find that the air conditioning had dripped so much that my side of the floor was completely drenched, and I had to thread to the toilet to retrieve some towels to try and dry the whole place so we could walk around. We called front desk immediately only to be told that their contractors cannot come in until 8 am. The air conditioning was finally serviced at 945am, but it continued leaking, but not as badly. Upon returning from our walk around the city, we found that the air conditioning was again leaking water, we called front desk to complain again.
We were offered a different room with the same view, but 2 doors down. The bathroom in the second room had an even worse stench, sewerage smell, and after turning the air conditioning on for 20 minutes it had started leaking like the other room. we noticed the floor boards had expanded due to water damage. I again complained to the front desk and requested they get back to me regarding their refund policy as i had had enough of this. A few more frustrated calls later, we were offered an upgrade to the super deluxe room, which was twice the size of the room we had been staying in. The bathroom was much more nicely decorated, and definitely more room to move around.
The downside was the air conditioning as not big enough to cool down the big room. At this point we were just over complaining. It was evident there was not much they can do anyway.
Cons - standard rooms are small, bathrooms seem to have sewerage smell issues, towels look very dirty, there are no amneties in the room, just basic room.
Pros - staff were accommodating enough, food at restaurant is very good, cocktails are very good, the pool was nice, not big, but nice to dunk and you are allowed to order food and drinks by the pool, location was good, right in the middle of everything, 5 mins to Kuta beach.
I would definitely not stay here again and would recommend against anyone intending to stay here.
