This is a basic hotel with domitory rooms, basic rooms with shared asian toilets and rooms with a TV and western toilets. Hot water most of the time. On the outskirts of the old Tibetian quarter that is left of the old city. You can see Potala palace from the street at the entrance.
One of the 1st backpakers hotels when the country was opened up for western travellers, so has character and history. Do not expect western service though very friendly staff; they do your washing for free (except underwear and socks). Do not do your room each day.
The Western rooms have the normal combs, soap, shampoo and sewing kit.
A great resturant called Namtso on the top floor. When you arrive it can be a struggle to climb the stairs though! After 3 days could run up with out being short of breath. Has great breakfasts and serves lunch and dinner, mexican, continental, Tibetian, Indian and chinese dishes - all cooked to a high standard.
