My wife and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel in our recent Qinghai-Tibet Railway & Tibet tour. Although my travel agent claimed it was a 4-star hotel, the room we stayed in was 2-star at best. Although the hotel lobby looked 4-star, the room we stayed was terrible:
- no bath tub and no proper shower (see photo)
- the shower sprayed on towels hanging from rack
- the bathroom floor was filthy (see photo)
- terrible smell in the bathroom (no doubt from the dirty and badly maintained floor trap
- the dressing table had no mirror
- no safe in room
- no tissue paper
- no tea/coffee bags

We were booked into this hotel by China Highlights (www.chinahighlights.com) as part of a two week trip to China which they arranged for my partner and me. Generally, the hotels which they booked for us in Beijing, Lhasa, Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, and Shanghai were okay but I have to say that I can't find one positive thing to say about this supposedly four star hotel. The night we were deposited there directly off the train from Beijing we wanted some food but the restaurant was closed. And the hotel itself is about two kilometres from town so you have to catch a taxi every time you want to go into town for a meal. Staff attitude was indifferent, the rooms were dirty, there was no refrigerator or bottled water in the rooms, and as for breakfast, you waited about twenty minutes just to get a cup of 'coffee', another ten minutes for some milk to add to the coffee, and then another ten minutes for the two teaspoons of salt (yep salt!) which they then added to the coffee. I went and bought a jar of Nescafe at a local store. Be warned. Do not stay at this hotel.
